Worked it out quickly and back on the course. Finished in 3:33:43. Very respectable for me. 15th out of 98 in AG. Time for a nap and then there are a few 18+ old bottles of bourbon and scotch that are waiting for me to celebrate with them.

am: 4.5
pm: kust under 10 ish with
6 x 1000 last night with decreasing rest between each set.
2 minutes/90 seconds/60seconds/45 seconds/30 seconds. The lack of rest between the last 3 reps was killer! Slowest k's were 314, ran one or two 307-308, but was all over the place. Good workout

4 today for me. Trying to get psyched up to run 26 miles as fast as possible on Sunday.

thanks guys. sounds like a good workout sam. does the race adrenaline really carry someone that much through a run? i.e. why does 7-8 miles at pace ensure that 13.1 of it can be done through the entire half? or is it due to the accumulated rest/"carbo loading" - not to dispel your suggestion, but i've never done a road race before so i'm quite curious!

i did 7.7 today at an 8 minute pace. i'm not quite sure how that happened, even after double checking the timing and the course map. i'm wondering if it's because of the flatness of today's run---i.e. the 13.5er i did was all uphill for the last 4.

either way...feels good!

12 today with an 8k tempo in 2822. Basically hopped in a race at the end of a heavy training run to try my tempo efort/do race simulation.
Helped the club Im on get 3rd place but still felt like crap and ran the workout backwards.

Thanks for the tips guys, I'll look in to getting a GPS watch so I have something to track my stats for when I can't run with headphones in.

13.2. Really concentrated on staying at my target pace instead of going out too fast like I typically do, and it paid off. I'm feeling pretty confident for my race in a couple of weeks.

Cheers to all who ran the Detroit International Marathon today. Beautiful weather! Absolutely gorgeous.

Apparently I have shin splits so I won't be able to run for a least three weeks.

This really sucks because I was really enjoying the track workouts. plain.gif

I will be back once I heal.

Rest day for next 2 days then a few easy workouts every other day. Marathon #2 in 7 days. This one will be a leisurely run just to have fun and finish. Dublin Marathon while on vacation, what could be better (weather maybe). Should be pretty cool. 14,000 signed up.

Thanks alot guys, this run really made my day / year. 4 months of training to plan paid off well. Never figured I'd hit that pace and time.

26.2 in 2:59:15 this morning. Perfect conditions, albeit windy as much of the course was along a lake. Finished 8th overall and 2nd in age group.
Halves: 1:29:37 first, 1:29:38 2nd. Feeling pretty fucking pleased with myself.

I did about 12 yesterday morning and decided to loop through Mitt Romney's old stomping grounds at the Cranbrook Academy. The fall colors are just about peaking here in Metro Detroit.

The area near the dorms has some pretty nice architecture, but I felt a bit creepy taking pictures of dorms full of teenagers in the early morning hours, so no pics of that area on this run.

This morning I did 3.4 miles at an 8 minute pace.

9 miles yesterday, new record distance for me. Took about 1:35, ran pretty steady the whole way since my goal was just to finish without stopping to walk at all.
