How many miles did you run today? - Page 500

Another slow 4 miles today. Still easing in to a rhythm before I try some longer runs.

RE: Vibrams/barefoot running - I have a pair of Vibrams that I used to run in recreationally about a year and a half ago, and they felt fine. Then when I started running again about 3 months ago I used the same shoes and my feet really started to hurt. Not sure what happened, I was only going on short runs (2-3 miles each) and I used the same running style as before (staying mainly on the balls of my feet without crashing down on my heels). I ended up having to switch to Nike Free sneakers and my feet have been feeling great ever since. I'm looking to try something different for my next shoe, will probably go shopping for something in the next couple months.

8.1 miles with intervals today. Couple of short runs left and that's all til show time. After trialing a few things on long runs, I really like the Sustained Energy from Hammer.Very impressed with how good I felt using 1/2 prior to running with meal and carrying the other half in a full water bottle. I'll use some of that and carry some gel paks for the run.

In regards to the barefoot or minimalist thing. It seems like there are now 3 options for shoes. The barefoot/minimalist, the heavier shoes with high heel to toe ratio and easier to heel strike, and then the low heel to toe ratio with shoes in the 5-8 oz range. I used to run in heavier Brooks and Nike shoes with the high ratio and had some issues with my knees/ankles. Moving to lighter shoes with less heel ratio has helped quite a bit. No injuries and very few problems. Still enough padding to keep the feet happy.

Start slow, finish strong.

4 today for me. Trying to get psyched up to run 26 miles as fast as possible on Sunday.

you might want to try running a couple of 10-11 mile runs with the first three at an easy pace an the last 7-8 at goal half marathon pace. If you can do that, you can most likely run that pace for a half marathon
am: 4.5
pm: kust under 10 ish with
6 x 1000 last night with decreasing rest between each set.
2 minutes/90 seconds/60seconds/45 seconds/30 seconds. The lack of rest between the last 3 reps was killer! Slowest k's were 314, ran one or two 307-308, but was all over the place. Good workout

9.5 tonight in a place where I used to live. Weird to go back to a place where I once ran every single night.
I still had all of the mental landmarks come back to me along the way. Literally a run down memory lane.

8.6 miles this morning in perfect running weather. It was about 60º with a light breeze before the sun came up and the rain started falling again.

I skipped yesterday and ran a slow 4 this morning. I was unprepared for the stress that those two extra 800m repeats would take.
