Today
9 with 1617 5K PR!!! On a USATF certified legit course, the Santa Monica 5000 - stoked to have a stamped and certified PR. Ran a slow second mile - but surged hard last part of the race with more of a just continuous acceleration than a "sprint kick". A+ race.
Extremely happy because the course was hard, and I finished close behind some people who have been CRUSHING me and outkicked like the 4-5 people in front of me.
Training is paying off.
Looking forward to hearing how it went quevola - I've heard some less than ideal results . . . So I hope you make the goal.
Wingin It- dont go nuts during the taper - I always kind of do.

Nice Sam! That is a blazing 5k. I finished in 3:34:42. Started to fade at mile 22 and missed a PR by 11 seconds. Hopefully I can get in some quality training in the next few months and get that PR at Surf City in February.

awesome. I have run 332/302 at surf city. Maybe I will come out and pace you for the middle 18!!! Nothing can compare to a post marathon superbowl feast.

And seriously congrats on the marathon. One of my best training partners blew his race and missed a PR he was TOTALLY in shape for.

Well, first marathon done! Very slow time but a brutal course with 1700ft of ascent in it. My goal was to cross the finish line by whatever means necessary, run, walk or crawl so I'm pleased to have completed in a moderatly un injured a state! Fair to say my legs hurt today though..

Lots of goals ticked off this year thanks to running

Ive lost 25lb - this was my major goal really
Lots of distance achievements for me, the furthest I had run before was one half marathon
Given I'm 37 good to prove to myself that whilst I'm a lot slower than when I was younger I'm not quite geriatric yet!

Thank you to everyone on this thread for the support over my training, we do a good job of mutual support here!

I couldn't find my running pants this morning but decided to hit the pavement anyway. It was 33º at 5:20 a.m. when I stepped outside. It took a few miles for my legs to warm up. I may need to invest in a new pair of running pants. I finished with 6.5 miles at a 8 minute 10 second pace.

4.35 miles at 4 a.m. followed by a brief workout. It put me in a great mood for what will be a very long and somewhat stressful day.

4 miles today, felt much tougher than it should have. It was about 89 degrees out, but the sun was beating down and it felt like 120 by the time I finished my run

3 miles in the AM, it wasn't super cold but I am considering bringing out the running tights for tomorrow track practice.

Anyone else running in tights?

My luggage didn't make the connection with me yesterday, so my plans to run this morning were thwarted. Took a week off a to let my heels recover. I guess that's a week and a day now...
