I ran a half marathon this morning at an 8:19 pace for a final time of 1:48:55. I was really happy with my time until I looked up last years and realized I ran it about a minute faster in 2011. For some reason I went in thinking I ran it at an hour and 55 minutes last year so I shot for the 1:50 mark today. I guess I'm happy that I hit my mark nearly dead on, but had I known what I actually ran last year, I would have aimed for 1:45 this year.

Oh well. The weather was perfect for it and I had a great time.

Ran my first half-marathon this morning. I just wanted to finish- I did. Shot for 2:00 and I think I got around 1:55. Not sure- results aren't posted yet. So hard though, new respect for runners.

17.9 today doing a fast finish long run. Good run on a hilly course.

Congrats CB85 on the 1st half run.

CB85, that's a bit better than just finishing! Congratulations to you and MP

I just checked my time and my start to finish was 1:52, so I did way better than I predicted! Thanks for the support!

Half marathons... impressive stuff.

And in the n00b camp... 3.3 miles for me today. This time alternating 3 mns run / 1 mn walk.

Haha, first runner ever who forgets their PB? I guess most of us can tell their PBs even when drunk.

Doing a 2-2,5km swim today, followed by 10k run.

That's not my personal best. I ran a half marathon at 1:38:22 about a decade ago when I was in the Marines (and 30 pounds lighter). I've been working on getting back to that time for a couple years now.

Ah I see. Yes, running with a few pounds extra is a pain in the a**. I gained some weight as well in order to be faster on the bike but at the same time, running gets really exhausting. But in my experience, it just takes some time to accomodate to the new weight and at some point, you'll be as fast as with a few pounds less (but, yeah, 30 pounds make a lot of a difference ....)
