When you run out of town or regionally, do you rent a hotel room near the start for the night before?
I've ran 3 out of town half's this year. Made sure I was there early the day before or even 2 days prior in one of them. I'll drive the course if possible just to get a feel for it the day before. I stay as close to the starting line as possible or have someone drop me off as close as I can get on race morning. That helps to make sure I get to sleep as late as possible, not worry about traffic or parking, and only have to run the race. Destination races are alot of fun and the bigger the event and particpants, the better. The Yuengling Marathon, Half, and 8K in Va Beach during April for St Pat's Day is an absolute blast and I'd have to believe that SF would be too. Should have quite a crowd, but could be quite hilly. Good luck.
