How many miles did you run today? - Page 471

I felt draggy this morning, legs had no snap, but somehow ended up crushing the run. Shaved about two minutes off my PR for 10k and in the process knocked off my fastest ever 5k and mile, too. To top it all off, the last mile was the fast mile.

I thought I was going at a fairly relaxed pace, but when the app called out my average pace at mile 4, I realized I was well ahead and decided to keep going to see if I could do it. My mood was good all day long! icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Ran a tough workout last night.
3 mile warmup, 3 miles tempo (529/533/535)
Then 3 times 2 minutes/90seconds/1min/30 seconds w a minute between reps.
12.5 miles total

I've been thinking about finding a coach to make sure I'm headed in the right direction and help me focus on more effective training. Anyone here used a coach before?

I just started working with a coach that has designed a full training plan for me. It is awesome, as I don't have to decide every day what to do. Before that I did workouts with a coaches guidance but made my own training plan. I definitely recommend getting in touch with a running club and seeing if the members can recommend a coach.

I have a coach/trainer for workouts, but he's also provided guidance on running. Great investment. Lots of gains.

Depends on what you are looking for in a coach. If online, this site will allow you to "hire" one and be able for consulting or to get a plan for time and distance. A bit expensive, but depends on what your needs are. I am using the 16 week program and very impressed with it versus a general online or book plan. The calculator is a very good tool for training as well. It also predicted within a few seconds of a race of mine this year. Some good articles even you don't use any of the plans.

5 1/2 for me last night and day off today

I woke up early and wanted to get a short run in as tomorrow is Race Day. Went downstairs only to discover a bat flying around the kitchen. THAT woke me up. Grab a broom. Open the windows. Lock up the cat. A lot of yelling and screaming.Eventually got the run in. Maybe because my heart rate was up, I ran a little faster! 3 miles in 23 minutes.

8.4 miles today broken into a 2.2 warm up, 4 @ tempo, and 2.2 cool down.
New to this thread so I have a question. With the middle of the training season going on now and over the next month, any discussion around marathon fueling strategies, shoes, training, etc or is this really just where you post your milage?

Nice and easy 6.6 this morning. Even stopped to take pictures. The city is working on the piers for the America's Cup, and the Vuitton Cup is underway this week.

I'm new to this thread as well and new to distance running in general, so I'd be interested in hearing more about any of the above from some more experienced runners....unless everyone likes sticking to posting miles for the most part, as not to clutter up the thread with too much extraneous talk.

5 miles this afternoon. An easy and fun run after a two-day hiatus from running. Would have done more if time had permitted.

Lots of stuff besides daily mileage comes up on this thread. Its a good place to discuss ins and outs of training.
What marathon are you training for wingin it?
And do you like the mcmillan program? Is it Greg McMillan who gives you coaching feedback?
I have 8 on tap in a little bit.
Ran 4.5am and 8.5pm yesterday.
