Im not super-stringy, but not really that muscular either, more lean/toned and on the smaller side of average (5'9", about 145) . There are plenty of runners i see who are skinnier/less muscular than i am. I have cross-trained more in the past year than ever before, and im a little bulkier now than when i was running over 70 miles per week consistently

anyway, 10 miles tonight in 1:01:06, miles splits were 6:43, 6:06, 6:07, 6:08, 6:02, 6:03, 6:04, 6:04, 5:57, 5:49. This was a pretty hard effort, felt like pushing myelf a little tonight.

an all around great early evening 9.5. perfect SoCal weather today. wasn't going to break any records with my 8:30-9:00 pace but it felt great stepping into this trance like rhythm.

****** run last night too soon after dinner - had all of the effects that could be expected . . . . ran a 5:50 mile followed by a 5:30 followed by a purge.
9 Tonight followed by an ice bath.
**** is ******* freezing! but it made my legs feel great. . . .
Also regarding the body type question - I run a fair amount of miles a week (55-70) and am not devoid of muscles - but am not big either. (6'1/160)

Thanks. Please tell that to the five guys who finished ahead of me. I'm working on developing another gear, or set of gears really.

This morning, 5 miles. Temperature at 42. No wind, thank goodness! Tomorrow, the low will be at 29. Time to dig out the SmartWools.

Miles today; zero. I used to inconsistently run 2 or 3 miles 2 or 3 times a week, but I would never stick with it long enough to get any benefits.

Well, that's going to change. Hopefully updating here each time I run will make me keep it up. Starting tomorrow, goal of two miles.

Hey, clarinetplayer; dem SmartWools; are they as good as their website claims?

The SmartWool bottoms are great. Keep the warmth in; wick the moisture out. In the winter, I wear them in near zero weather, and they do the trick. There are other equally good products on the market: IceBreaker, Patagonia etc...

In the winter, it is not the temperature, the ice, or the snow that prevent me from going outside for a run. It is the wind chill and the force of the wind.
