How many miles did you run today? - Page 385

6 miles this morning. A balmy 38 degrees. Balmy, when compared to the Monday morning temperature of 16 degrees.

Have thoroughly enjoyed the (mostly good) "Juneuary" weather. Hope February is as mild.

That's the weekend we celebrate her birthday. Also, it means she gets to watch the kids Saturday morning - which is normal but she's liking kid duty less and less. That said, running is pretty much my 'me time' so I'm not giving her a say in this.

The Sunday morning long-run time suck is a burr under her saddle these days, but my point from above still stands.

I hear you, Thomas. I'm able to get in three runs per week on weekdays, but when I need to go to four per week, it will be tough. Carving out time on the weekend is difficult.

Ran 4 miles this morning and it made my day so much better because I was pumped and ready to go!

I've been on a five-day schedule for a while now: Sun-Thurs, rest Fri-Sat, and it helps support the Sunday long run. That said, I'm out the door well before anyone else is awake, even on Sunday. Sometimes everyone's still asleep when I return, even on Sunday (but not often). Usually I'm out the door by 5 a.m. unless it's a really long weekday run.

so I figured I would go see what type of shoes I had in storage, because I know I have purchased 5-6 pairs that I have never really maxed out. Sadly I have like 4 pairs of racing flats, 2 XC shoes and some other crappy choices. I like the new balance 890 because the platform is still neutral despite having a decent amount of arch support. Usually shoes with arch bracing kick my stride sideways when I push off, which I am convinced has caused me some knee pains over the past 2 years (which clear up when I switch to a good shoe).
Back to the 890's for me.
Tonight I ran with a mild cold - 7 miles with 4 uptempo. Had to bag my plans for a workout because I didn't feel up to it. It made me feel better right away.

I had the same issue with my Kinvara's. They were great on flat ground and I really liked the 4mm drop, but as soon as I got on any hills or even bridle path type trails, they felt very squirly. I ended up making them my treadmill shoes, which they were very good at.

Have been putting alot of miles on my Pearl Izumi Streak 2's of late, LOVE THEM! Light weight but have good grip/hold in the upper.

4 recovery miles after a hilly 7 mile tempo run yesterday.

4 miles this morning. An easy run at a faster than usual pace. I was concerned because yesterday my IT band issues flared up again, but not this morning.

4.25 before sunrise here in Salt Lake City. 27 degrees. Around mile 2 I began to worry that I hadn't dressed warmly enough but it ended up okay.

Started running on 25th September when I weighed 14st 9lb. I have also been careful with my diet. I have gradually built up the distance and the weather was so good today, cold but wind-less and sunny that I pushed myself and completed my first 10k in over 24 years. Not particularly fast just under an hour, but I'm happy with the progress and now weigh 12st 3lb. 3lb to target weight.
