That's a really good time for your first 5k.

been going to the local state park. they have parallel bars and chin up bars and **** every 40 yards so the idea is to sprint between stations, do your bw exercise then continue through 20 some odd stations and 3 miles. is a good time.

damn you can add sprint/interval training to the 52 blocks/ghetto workout! sounds hardcore.

if you're ever in the bay area try out the lake merced circuit. its a 4.5mile loop with stops for things like sit-ups on a decline, parallel bars, ect. I've seen some hardcore dudes run the loop twice and do the workouts.

the run is fun and pretty as long as you're looking at the lake... but the other side is major roadways.

last night - 4 miles in 24:22 with each mile progressively faster (6:35, 6:07, 5:52, 5:48)

today - 10.0 miles in 1:06:04. Had alot more people yell things at me from their cars or yard today while running than normal.

I ran late and ate a small easter lunch to not have cramping again.
18 miles-2:35

I also had a religous experience while on the run.

@ about mile 14, I was desperate for water (I left intending on running 10 miles, so I didnt bring Gu or water), I mean almost at the point where I was going to stop and interrupt Easter dinner at some house to ask for some. Running towards lake MI (about 8 blocks from the lake), I said "Lord, please help", sure enough, I spy in a bush a full bottle of water, never been opened!

Oh, how I wish I had brought the right hydration and some gel.

It was beautiful to start, but at mile 6, the sky grew dark, by mile 8 the wind was blowing 20 mph, by mile 12, it was raining with lightning.
When I got home, I was covered in dust/mud/bugs/salt.

Was down in FL for the weekend visitng the family for Easter, got in 14.4 miles on Saturday in 1:45 and 14.7 miles on Sunday in 1:53 - weather felt brutally hot even if it was only in the low 80's.

Didn't run Sunday but played a fair amount of basketball with the family.

Today: homework, chores, and an early day at the office conspired to keep me at 4 miles today: 31:02.

I would stick to the treadmill - the LAX area is pretty sketchy and the traffic and air quality is not great.

Sunday: 20 slow miles.

You're getting to the point where you can't really run without replenishing in mid-run (and not crashing afterward). I use gels during the run, and then pick really salty snacks afterwards. Some people suggest loading up on salt the night before the run (or race), or using salt tablets.

Yah, I took a gel supplement about 2/3 through but I didn't have anything to wash it down with so I was really parched the rest of the way. Going to bring water next time I go for a long run...
