Headed out for a quick 3 mile run, it's the best medicine ever. Oh, and hello everyone, this is my first post.

Welcome York, let me show you around. MonkeyFresh started this thread awhile back, but doesn't post very often. The heavy hitters are Jwied, mylesmyles, Thomas and Scrumhalf (currently on the DL). NewYorkRanger, AlanC, Shoreman and GeoPa are also badasses, but are not as active as they used to be. I find that checking in on this thread on a regular basis keeps me motivated.

Keep us posted on your progress...

Thanks! Mind if I jump in? This is a great thread. About two years ago I started running and watching food intake, and lost 30 pounds. I ran my first marathon (Marine Corps in DC) just as I turned 50, and I have run 6 in the two years since then, including a "mini" ultra 50k (El Scorcho in Ft. Worth). I'm wanting to get back into marathon shape, and this is my start. BTW, my lovely wife just bought a pair of Santoni Jensen shoes for me, then I discovered StyleForum and I have really been having fun reading all the threads. Cheers to all!

5.5 miles today. Seems like I've finally warmed up to running in the cold (bad pun, I know). It felt great.

Headed out to my local trails today and got slammed by about 200 extra people swarming them. Good ol' New Years resolutionists. It was fun passing them up the hills though, a little extra motivation. Hopefully some of them will actually keep to it.

Doing something different: I bundled up the little one (hoodie, ipod, football) and ran to the high school (not quite a mile). There, I ran up the stadium steps - 24 benches, I think, for 8-9 minutes. Then we went down to the field and threw the football, moving on to pass routes. After that I went back to running up the bleachers for another 10 minutes, then ran home. Overall, just under an hour, but my calves hurt now and I think my quads will be hurting tomorrow.
