11.3 rainy miles.
How many miles did you run today? - Page 809
I have quite a few live Pearl Jam concerts on my nano and most are 3 hours or more. I listen to them almost exclusively on runs of 90 minutes or more. If any of you guys are doing some long trail runs and want to give them a try, pm me and I'll send you a cd or two to download and then mail back to me. Great to listen to on trails.
Fueco: Good luck with the BQ. Don't forget to aim for beating that BQ time by 2 minutes or more to be safe. Less than 1 minute better probably won't get you in. I found long mid week tempo runs to be the best training runs to build speed and hold it. 20 min warm up run, 45 min half marathon pace, 20 min cool down run.
Gear: Trialed the UD Anton Kuprika vest. Was ok, but still like the UA Alpha II better. If UA combined the Alpha I & II, they'd have a great vest. I like parts of both. I have the UD Scott Jurek III coming to try out see how that works. Wore the Asics FujiLytes. Nice shoe on an easy trail, but a bit tight for me in the fore foot. I haven't had a blister in years and after 17 miles, I had one started with these. They'll go back. The NF Litewave TR's didn't fit well either. Still a huge fan of the Inov-8 Roclite 282 GTX for wet, snowy, or muddy trails. Awesome shoe for fit, flexibility, and dry feet.
My favorite trail / park is closed during the "muddy" season so the trails don't get tore up by mtn bikes. Going to be a few weeks before the park opens with all the snow melting and rain.
Down here as well … definitely a great day!
Did about the same actually … a little over 4 miles down to the beach, around, around and back.
5.1 miles yesterday then 17.4 miles today. Today's run was one I have wanted to do since we moved into this house. 3.1 miles from our front door to the trails, 11.2 miles of trails, then 3.1 miles back.
Shoes: Brooks Ghost 8. These have been great since I got them and I am almost to 500 miles in them. I run road and trails in them as most trails shoes seem to be too minimal for my liking.
Music: I listen to a mix of hiphop, edm, and rock. I listen on road running days if I am doing 6+ miles. I like hearing nature otherwise.
Gear: I have a UD AK v2 vest which I like. I can carry 70oz in the bladder then 2x 25oz bottles in the front pockets. Today was just the bladder with nutrition being Clif Blocks and some Poptarts. I am getting better with real food on long runs. Clothing tends to be a Nike dry-fit shirt if under 60* otherwise no shirt and shorts. I really like Target Champion C9 shorts. They are great for $15 while my New Balance shorts which were I think $60 didn't last.
I have no target races this year and my wife is due any day so we will have a baby on our hands which will take precedence. I will probably just top out at 10 mile runs in the neighborhood for a few months.
