Nice and slow 10mile road run at 9min pace. First long-ish run since 5/31 marathon. Felt ok. Think I'm gearing up for marathon #2 this Nov.

4.4 easy miles today. Took the week off to recover after the race and felt great today. Will ramp up over the next couple weeks and do about 20-25 this week, 30-35 next week, then start to train for Flatrock 50K coming up in Sept.

I love Inov-8 for trail runs. I own more of their shoes than any other. Probably about 8 pair of them right now and just ordered the Terraclaw to try out. There running shoes are very minimal connected to the ground. I don't like them to run in but are very comfortable for a pair of walking around shoes. My bro-in-law races in them. Their crossfit stuff just started recently. They have been a trail running shoe in Europe for quite a while. Great rock, root, mud, dirt shoes. The Roclites are my favorites right now and the Roclite GTX are fantastic for winter in snow and slop.

10k in 95 degree heat. My hip is killing me. I think I'll keep foam rolling which it's a very difficult area to roll btw.

I'll take a week off mid August but I'll stay 20-24 miles a week until then.

Look up some hit mobility stretches and possibly get a lacrosse ball to help work the hip area.  I foamed rolled last night and only had a couple tender spots in my calves.  Everything else is feeling great with my recent increase in mileage.

Yea a lax ball may help because the way my lower back curves into my ass doesn't fit the foam roller right and the pain moves around maybe a 3 inch area.

7.4 miles today

5.8 miles this morning.  Pretty flat route but I got to see a pretty sunrise so that was a plus.

6.3 miles today. Got a pair of NB Vazee and tried them out today. I like them. Light, good feel, ran well in them. Not a fan of fresh foam and these have a different foam.

4.6 miles today.  Missed both trail nights due to work.  Hopefully get in some miles this weekend to make up for it.

Did 7 on Sunday while I was still traveling, then took a few days off and just got in 5.1 this morning. It was insanely humid when I got out there this morning, but as I was coming back home it started to rain, which really helped cool me off for the last mile or so.

Any snake on the trail will get your attention pretty quickly. When I ran my 100K in Kansas, about 30 miles into it I was on some single track in a field w/ lots of brush and high grass. 10 ft up the trail was a rattlesnake that the only reason I saw him was he moved into the X position as he saw me coming. Scared the shit out of me. I stopped, told him I'm going to take a couple big steps around the trail, and would appreciate it if he didn't try to bite me.

4.5 miles today

11.25 trail miles today.  Saw another snake but this time it was a smaller one.  That makes the 5th for the year and I only saw one last year.

6.2 on Fri. and 8.1 yesterday. I think my Hoka Conquest are close to shot. Tried both the Huaka and Cortez models, but the uppers just weren't comfortable. Brooks Ravenna and Racer ST are en route. I like the Transcends I've been using... They just seem a bit bulky.
