How many miles did you run today? - Page 715

I was hoping to get in about 5 or 6 miles this afternoon but I took a couple spills on the ice this morning walking home from getting my coffee and donut(s). It wasn't icy on my way to the bakery but when I walked out after getting my goods it immediately began freezing rain pretty hard. I fell flat on my back twice on the two mile walk back home (and nearly fell another 3 or 4 times), It had warmed up enough to melt away all the ice and snow by lunch but I was still a bit sore. Hopefully I'm not too bruised or sore in the morning.

The important thing though is that I never spilled more than a drop of coffee and all the donuts survived... but mainly because they were all safe and sound in my belly by the first time I hit the deck.

Ouch. But good work.

I short-changed my post... 6.2 miles in 53:30 this afternoon out along the San Francisco Bay Trail. Good times!

6.1 this morning. No lingering effects from yesterday's falls.

8 mile trail run.
Tried out the Inov8 GTX 282 Roclites. Great waterproof trail shoes. Lightweight, flexible, good traction. I was in anything from 6 inches of unpacked snow to packed down snow on my run.

I got in 3 miles with 4 hill repeats after.  My knee wasn't feeling great and while I usually love the rain...it put a damper on my effort.  Taking to week off completely.

Debating on taking longer off, hitting the gym (non-running cardio and some basic weights), then refocus for next year.  Write off my entry fee for my race as a learning experience.

Ran the Pete McCardle XC 15K in Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx on Sunday. Managed a 1:00:12 and I was killing myself to try and go 59:59 but was too slow in the hills. Something to aim for next year.

Good idea. Knee should heal or you won't be doing any ultras in the near future. That 70M race w/ 40K elevation would need a lot of training and a bum knee won't get you to the finish. It's about too late to train starting now for a race like that in spring.

6 miles this morning with a handful of 20 second intervals in the middle of it.

Nothing but elliptical and PT exercises at the moment. Looks like my 1200-mile goal for 2014 will not be reached.
