How many miles did you run today? - Page 703

Running gear musings:

1.  My Black Diamond Spot was messing up after only 2.5 months.  Wrote to their warranty department and they are placing it!  Hopefully this next one lasts a little longer.  Trying to figure out if a rechargeable light is worth the upfront price as I hate using so many batteries.

2.  Anyone have any lightweight rain jacket experience?  I need to pick one up but have no experience.  I just want something that is light and will pack away easily.

3.  The North Face Better Than Naked shorts...anyone with experience?  Need to add some new running shorts as a pair was just retired.

4.  Compression socks.  I have used CEP but @ $40 a pair is there anything else out there that is just as good for less?

Other than clearance sales, I can't find compression socks for less than that. I find myself wondering why the price remains so elevated, though. Seems like a market in need of disruption... smile.gif

I'd keep an eye out on those sites that offer one deal a day or one deal at a time (like SteepAndCheap.com) for compression socks. I know it's sort of annoying to keep checking in on them constantly but that's where I got my pair of CEPs. I think I paid about $20 shipped.

5.6 hilly miles on my favorite trails.

4.5 yesterday after work. Rain in the morning again stalled my pre-work plans to run. Luckily I went right as the sun was going down so it wasn't too hot or humid.

4.6 miles this morning.  mid-50s weather is great for running.

About 4 miles on the treadmill this morning.

3.4 easy miles yesterday morning, 4.8 mile tempo run in afternoon, 3.8 easy mile run this a.m., 8.4 mile medium paced run this afternoon.
After Pikes Peak I took a few weeks off and then ran some low mileage weeks around 25-30 miles in Sept. I really feel great at this point with no aches or pains.

Rain jacket: decide if you need a hood or not. W/O opens more options. I like my Patagonia gear a lot. Keep in mind, water resistant and water proof are very different. Proof doesn't breath well, but keeps you dry. Costs quite a bit more but will have zippers to open up to breath. The water resistant means you will get wet.

No on the shorts. Seems like everyone has their own favorite.

I have calf sleeves. 2XU are my brand for the them and I like them. Here is a good link to review them. http://fellrnr.com/wiki/A_review_of_graduated_compression_wear
