...so in the spirit of the thread I got off my lazy ass and went for a run around my block. Just finished calculating it and it turns out I ran...

1.414 miles

Not an impressive number, but I'm glad I ran anyways. Besides, as a sprinter, it's difficult for me to run long distances without a tangible and reachable goal right in front of me, but I'm still pretty happy I did it anyways.

Btw, does anyone know a good distance calculator online? The ones I found by quick google searches are kinda crappy, doesn't take into account streets so I have to keep measuring each street and adding all them up (I'm pretty sure the figure I arrived at is a little off).

Get a Garmin watch with a footpod. Will cost you about $80 (hmmm now where might that come from?).

The result is the same as a full GPS watch and you will save a hundred bucks at least

I use mine and it works great, it also synchs wirelessly to a PC for uploading run times and distances

Just got RunKeeper Pro for my iPhone. The distance informer is nice, gives an audio cue every mile along with a pace report. 2.1 miles yesterday

Do you have any idea how long can you run the program before your battery dies?

After reading the story I suggest that lel mail antirabbit some of his poo.

I use mapmyrun.com. It works very well for distance calculating and will track all of your previous workouts as well.

same here...cool program & free.

Today I ran 7.25 in a miserably humid evening here in NYC.

Lel, I feel for ya man, but please, take this shit up with the mods if there is an issue, not on this thread... or suck it up and chalk the $80 up to an experience. If you used paypal it wouldn't have been an issue.

Yeah.. it's been really humid and unpleasant here the last few days. Last night was a night off from running for me thankfully.

Sunday I did a 5K in NJ and it was really humid down on the water. People were really suffering.

I don't, the longest I've used it for was about 40 minutes with the music running in the background, and that didn't blow my battery or anything. The program can run with the screen off so that's a plus. There's a lite version in the app store that I used for a few weeks.

Never a dull run here:

Dead seal washed up along the trail...has been there for two days now...I didn't even know NY Harbor had seals. Poor fella must've gotten hit by a boat...makes you think, no matter how populated or crowded an area, nature is still all around us.

The run: 5.86 miles

Quick speed test today. Warm Up: 20 minutes light jogging to build up a sweat Time 3 Mile Run: 16:42 Rest 20 minutes 20Mi Time Trial on Bicycle: I didn't hit the "start" button on my watch until I realized I was like 1/3 of the way through it, but I maintained a steady 28mph on my cycling computer. If you carry the 1 and subtract the 3 you get 4 to the 10th power...screw it. I avged 28mph for the duration of the 20 mi ride. Super K, Not training for a half. I used to compete in triathlons while I was in high school. I did 2 half-irons (we like to call them Tinman), a few of olympics, and 2 iron distance races (did the 2 irons within a few months of eachother, it was brutal). Nowadays I don't really have time to train for specific races because I don't have time to race, so I just try to stay in tip top shape in case my sponsors find a race for me and want me in it.

Damm that is fast, podium fast. I only see 28 with a strong tailwind or downhill.

It's easier on an Time Trial bike built for speed and on the flat, smooth roads of san diego. I can't hold it for much longer than 20mi though otherwise I feel like i'm gonna die haha.
