5.3 miles today on a treadmill, not the most inspiring but a cup of Joe made me move briskly.

6.5 this morning. I had zero energy this morning. I sat in the car for at least five minutes trying to psych myself up. After a mile or so, I perked right up, though. The running is good for that.

Gonna make like NOBD smile.gif

Really happy with this - probably my best run ever which is pretty good considering I didn't feel to great going into it. I managed to push the pace (for me) pretty well during the fast interval, though I tailed off a little. Very close to getting sub-5:00/km over 5km smile.gif and I got 5km in around 26:00, so the first time sub-30min without feeling like I was doing to die afterwards.

8 miles this afternoon. Felt pretty good once I got going but that first mile was a struggle.

Took a day off from running and did 5.3 miles on the elliptical today. I moved at a brisk pace and gave it a good go throughout. Interestingly, the machine tracked me as burning roughly the same amount of calories at my weight as if I were to run 5.3 miles. I broke a sweat, but was not drenched as I am after running. The only thing that could make me think that I actually burned a similar amount of calories is that I used more muscles (i.e., my arms a lot). Can ellipticals be that wrong? Is perspiration an incorrect barometer of calories burned?

^ I rarely trust cardio machines to accurately display the amount of calories burned. I've read some articles in the past that detailed how the majority of them exaggerate this number pretty significantly.

5 this morning. Since everyone's posting app screenshots, I'll get in on the action, too. smile.gif

I did my first run in about three weeks yesterday... I've been traveling, and couldn't do much during my wife's race (Race Across America). I'm driving solo back across the country and stopped in South Bend, IN and ran six miles in the muggy weather. Then I killed the benefit of it by having pizza for dinner in Chicago.

Did she ride solo or as part of a team?

Solo. This was her second solo finish of RAAM (the other was in 2012). Total time was 12 days, 8 hours and 27 minutes (~10 hours faster than two years ago).
