There were about 3 months between when I discovered Ian's shop and when I moved away from San Diego...managed to squeeze in 2 trips. Both were quite expensive but very much worth it. Highly recommend.

Visited the warehouse last week while in town to visit the in-laws. Very nice selection and Ian was very friendly. Kopped four ties. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif (Which you can see in the soporific tie thread...)

Ian's biggest redeeming feature is that he also has some New zealand blood (or so I am told), which probably explains some of his fantastic entrepeneurship.

Good luck for 2012 Ian, and I hope the quality of your products and service will remain as high as they have previously been.

Tom Ford - Private Blend Collection - Oud Wood
Quote:
Exotic Rose Wood and Cardamom, blended with exuberant Chinese Pepper, envelop the wearer in warmth. Eventually, the center exposes a smokey blend of rare Oud Wood, Sandalwood and Vetiver. Finally, the creamy scents of Tonka Bean, Vanilla and Amber are revealed.

ShopTheFinest Product Review:

After personally trying the Oud Wood by Tom Ford, any thoughts of the high priced cologne dissipated and we quickly found it to be one of our new favorite Mens Fragrances. We recommend adding this to your collection, if you want a luxury fragrance that is more exclusive and less common, this is wonderful!

Shirts by Barba Napoli.

The History of Barba Napoli

In 1964, Antonio e Vittorio Barba decided to open a small facility to produce artisan shirts. Their decision was born of a passion to provide quality garments for the elegant man. Initially, all the shirts were produced for a limited number of customers, the Neapolitan VIP. However, soon the Barba brothers’ reputation for elegance and style was known throughout Italy. The secret to their success lies in the skilled cutting techniques, attention to detail and the use of refined fabrics.

The Construction of Barba Napoli Shirts

The cut of the shirts are exclusively finished by hand.
The front and the reverse of both the collar and the cuffs are perfectly aligned in the lines.
The sleeves are hand sewn, like in the best tradition of the Neapolitan tailors.
The back and front side of the hips are perfectly aligned.
The placket seam follows the fabric lines.
The gusset, the small white taffeta triangle that joins the back to the front, insures more life to the shirt.
The buttons are of the best quality Australian Mother of Pearl.

As a final touch, the shirt is dampened and hot ironed to give the shirt a softer finish.

Barba Napoli Shirts are available at ShopTheFinest.com.

Ian,

Been eyeing these for quite some time:

http://www.shopthefinest.com/p-42968-sutor-mantellassi-dark-brown-shoes-size-105-us-95-uk.aspx

My only concern is that they look a shade dark from the picture, almost black.

Ideally, they'd be the same shade as the pair in the middle:

Is the color of the Sutors any different in person than the picture?

Anyone have these that can weigh in?

Ian - Since we've brought that picture back up, has the shoe on the left made it's debut yet? I was checking regularly for it and never saw it land on the site.

Where are the double monks on the site? I can't seem to find them.

Hi JTANG,

325

The Sutor Mantellassi's that you're interested are definitely a dark brown. When the shoes are placed to something that is black, that is when the color of the dark brown is more noticeable.

They are NOT as light as the middle Santoni pair that you had pictured.

I hope that this is helpful.

Thanks,
