It's going to fit people differently, but off the rack I agree that it looks a bit boxy. That being said there certainly is waist suppression, though not as extreme as say RLBL. The reasoning is, simply, that waist suppression can be adjusted very easily by a tailor, and from a vanity stand-point: men prefer to have to have a garment taken in vs. let out.

Yup - I was wearing one today and they are definitely designed to be narrow with the sleeve beginning slightly higher on the shoulder - I realize they're not for everyone, but I love the cut. From what we can see, about 10% of people find it better to go up a size (ie. 16.5 instead of normally wearing 16). We've sold nearly 350 of them so far.

Working on it... but I think some Battisti sweaters and hopefully other things to come soon too.

Yes please make the black hopsack blazer. I would definitely buy it. Let me know if you decide to make them and make sure you make some in a 40 long.

OK!

Sleeves, sides, and darts. I actually used one of my Benjamin shirts as the example for how I wanted all the Borrellis tailored.

I would love some longer sleeves on the Benjamin shirts. Just bought one - fabric, collar, and body are fabulous. If I could get another inch of sleeve length, I would stop buying customs.....

Picked up a very sharp Caruso from Ben and his company recently. Best purchase I have made in a long time. Thanks!

What a compliment! I dig it! That being said, we will be offering a model more like the medium-bodied Borrelli shirts too...

Probably not an inch, but will make the next batch 1 cm longer...

Great - enjoy it! Hopefully you'll try one of the Benjamin sport jackets which will be similar to the Caruso and Riviera jackets that we have - and in premium luxury fabrics from Guabello, Colombo, Zegna and Loro Piana fabrics!

Ben

I live in Belgium and I was wondering if you have received any feedback of Belgian customers (if there are any) concerning the following statement on your website:

"Please note that customers are responsible for paying the customs and import duties at the time of delivery. eHaberdasher cannot determine in advance what these fees will be ~ for more information, please contact your local customs office"

I have already ordered electronic stuff outside of Europe and I know that the base rule customs use is to randomly check shipments with a value above EUR 50. Do you have any experience with Belgian shipments? I also think there is a difference when you mark the package as a "gift", but I think this is a very gray area and will have to take a closer look into this.

BTW: I already know what customs will say when I ask them: Pay 21% VAT or get the **** out..

Thanks!

NewYorkBuck - I'm curious, what's your preferred neck/sleeve length? I'm a slightly tall 6'3 with a 15.5 neck and thought the listed sleeve measurements at 25.79 were plenty generous. I would normally want a 25 or a 25.5 (depending on shoulder/armhole config) and thought these would be spot on or, heck, I was almost thinking I might need them shortened slightly.

A question on the Benjamin shirts - do they have gauntlet buttons* ?

(*there's probably a more modern way to refer to these but I don't know it - it's the buttons on the sleeve for the open part before the cuff. You know, if you had your cuff unbuttoned this would be the button towards the end of the sleeve that would hold the sleeve end together)

I've always called it a sleeve placket button but yes, they do have them.

Hey! I resent that. Give credit where credit is due: my boxy torso.

Seriously though, I'm probably stretching the suit out at all the wrong places—the button pulling at the waist—to make it look boxier than it is. I'll take some better pictures at some point that do the suit a bit more justice. That said, I'm glad the waist isn't suppressed too much. My diet is going well, but I only have so much time.
