I'm not really sure what the big deal here. I have never bought an off the rack suit and not had tailoring done. With BB (old favorite) 42L it was generally lengthen sleeves slightly, bring out the seat of the pants and bring in the waist of the jacket. With RLBL (new favorite) 44L it is lengthen sleeves slightly, bring in the jacket a bit and bring in the waist on the pants. Each suit it cut differently and each person is shaped differently. Find the cut that best suits you and let your tailor go to work. I can't for the life of me figure out why I have to go up a size in BL, but I do, and it fits really well with minor, customary alterations.
I kind of agree to that also. I probably would be fine if I found a 40R BL or PL (please let me know if you see any), but I didn't, I found the 38R which is too tight and I'm going to complain about it.
