Reading this thread is appears that Filson has been somewhat active in clamping down on its retailers who offer standard discounts on Filson products. I suspect (and it may have been mentioned here??) that some heavy-hitter retailers who sold only at full price were giving Filson flak about it, and Filson took steps to make sure its products weren't being sold online at "standard discounts".

Some internet retailers got cut off altogether, and Crane's supply was almost cut off as well, presumably because Filson reads this forum, and threads like this ... and presumably this very thread.

Ah, I understand. Oh well. Thanks. Maybe they should remove the big red Discount codes here from their sig.....

1.) For those wondering about stock, prices, etc., just call the store. The staff at Crane's are incredibly friendly and helpful. You will be pleasantly surprised by the pricing and the cost of shipping (free).

2.) I received my tan 257 last week and it is an amazing bag. As a person who was on the fence about getting a Filson's bag for quite some time, I am glad I made the decision to buy the bag. The original plan was to try out the 257 and perhaps re-sell it if I didn't like it, especially since I had originally had my heart set on a brown 256. After using the tan 257 for one week, I can now tell you that you can pry this bag from my dead cold hands.

I just took a trip to LA with the family and all I packed was the Filson Large Carry On - #242 and a laptop briefcase. 5 day trip and I fit all my clothes and 1 pair of shoes in the bag. If I could convince the wife to stop checking luggage, I would travel more. http://bit.ly/hPGuUH

You are correct on all counts. It's been an arduous task going back and forth with Filson over pricing. Effective July 1 2011 all dealers will not be able to discount prices or offer online discount coupons anymore. All online pricing will be at MSRP no exceptions. Pretty much call the store and haggle with the staff and see what happens. Remember the phone is your friend when your hot for something we have and I'm not just talkin' Filson.

I've got 2 257s in tan in stock and a few 256s in tan as well. If you want one you know the routine by now. When they are gone we won't see anymore until July or some garbage like that. We are starting to get a few pieces of luggage in brown twill as well. I know one is a duffel for sure. And if you noticed the entire Filson section was down on the site for a while. We got cut off again over pricing. So did a bunch of the other larger dealers in the country. I'm bringing it back online a section at a time. Luggage and outerwear are now up. Filson has decided that there will be no discounted pricing advertised anywhere. Failure to comply means termination of the dealer arrangement. Maybe they should worry about their production problems instead of what everyone sells their stuff for. After all it's not like we haven't paid for it and own it outright.
