Is it possible that I'm going to keep calling Crane's every week or two and that the Fall shipment of brown 257s will disappear during the gaps between my calls (as soon as they arrive)? I'm happy to wait a few weeks (both to save a few bucks and to support SF) but I'd rather not get skipped entirely. In other words, should I be hedging my bet with another retailer? PS-- the J.Crew Filson knockoff (which appears to be sized between the 256 and 257) is rather attractive.

Actually, it is slightly smaller than a 256.

I see you are correct. Do you have the bag and/or opinions to share? Hopefully the good people at Crane's will see our dialogue and tell Filson that their inability to manage a supply chain (what is this, 1988?) is costing them.

I notice some online store has said that the filson 256 in brown will be back in stock at 8/17/2010. Was wondering if Crane's will get theirs soon?

Haven't seen the JC bag in person, but based on the picture I far prefer the Filson. My guess is the Filson will last much longer as well.

Been hanging for over a month. You would think that someone would reply to an email, even if just to say "you guys should probably just hold tight". If it weren't for this thread I wouldn't have even known there was a problem with supplies from Filson. I can only assume that is what is holding my order up.

An update to say that I did receive a reply to my emails to Crane's. Unfortunately, they canceled my order as they do not expect Filson stock until the end of September.

WTF! I just got an email from them saying end of August.

This is weird. Got email saying my order is canceled too and to check back in October.

Ordered an extra-large Filson Duffel in tan but was informed by Crane's they were out of stock. They had the Tan in large and I went with this instead. I just want to note that David and his staff were prompt and quick to get this order taken care of. That is all.

It may depend on what exactly was ordered. A zippered tote bag, in my case.

As far as I know this is what's going on.

If someone ordered something from us Filson wise and we didn't have it Dave told me he sent an email to the address that was listed on the order. He specifically wanted to know if it should be put on back order or canceled. It appears that many people did not receive it for whatever reason. It could be anything from a bogus email addie supplied to us to spam filters. In any case it does not matter. We had a list of invoices awaiting further instructions and it looks like he just decided to cancel all orders that he did not hear back from.

Currently we do not have a Filson rep. Our rep decided to leave for greener pastures and the regional distributors have basically dropped the ball with a replacement. Filson themselves are of little or no help with what's going on either. We really have no clue when or what will be shipped to us and at what time. The story keep changing.

I'm just the dumb webmaster who tries to keep track of all this shit and I'm really sorry this has happened to all of you. Hopefully all of this can get resolved and things will get back to normal.

do you have Filson Wool Cape Coat in color gray, size M in stock? i would like to order it, but do not want my order to be canceled after i've paid i've written an email but noone answered =( also i would like a suggestion on filson coats sizing. im between 6 and 6'1'' feet, 182 pound, broad shoulders. i usually wear L, but I guess I should try M in Filson (Im not goint to use a lot of layering with that coat, just a shirt or maybe a sweater). Is that correct?

So I've checked the official filson site out and it says the brown 256 is on backordered. Ships on: 9/7/2010. Guess we might have to wait even longer =/
