30 mins, everyday for a month

Hi everyone,

I weighed myself on the scale yesterday at Target and found that I was up 10kilos (20 pounds) from January this year. I'm really worried, I've never had weight fluctuations before. I don't exercise, I haven't increased my food intake and I'm only 19 so I won't blame my metabolism just yet.

If I were to walk 30 minutes everyday for a month, what would be the effect? I don't want to cut down food intake...

I have noticed a bulge happening in my stomach area - it used to be flat.
Also, my legs are getting a bit beefy and I'd prefer them lean.

I tried walking around the block for 1 hour the other day but I became so bored and I jogged for perhaps 3 minutes and I was puffed out.

Should I walk 30 mins a day or 1 hr - i really want to see results in 1 month if possible.

Cheers!

30 mins will probably burn half the beer you finished in just typing this post.

And an hour presumably will burn about twice that.

If thats true then what makes 2 hours?

The effect will be a decrease in your risk for CVD, nothing else.

your 19, please please don't walk for exercise.

walking, cummon your too old for that, at 19 id recommend looking into one of those old lady pool classes at your local community centre. now thatll get your into tip top shape in no time!

i lost 15 lbs in 2 weeks by eating nothing but smart ones that totaled about 1000 calories a day and doing a 30 minute combination of either running, rowing machine, elliptical, or stationary bike.

actually i take that back it wasn't just smart ones, it was huge ass salads with veggie burger as the protein (70 cals per patty) - i even ate MCD's but the key was staying under the ridiculous amount of 1000 calories a day - so say i had a big mac, that totalled 800, i could only eat 200 calories which was probably a salad . . . ha . . . that was dumb

worked magic thogh

wouldnt reccomend it though long term, as i was irritable, cuz i was hungry a lot.

. . . but i looked great for the event i was preparing for, and when i went back to lifting and eating normal, and healthy i only put on about 5 lbs back.

haha yeah but i suck at running

i play basketball for fun though, sometimes. although i'm not always running on the court.

would skip rope be better?

you cant really suck at running. you mean your cardio is shit. if you "suck" at running, youre going to be shit at skipping.

yeah my cardio is shit. if i push myself, i can do maybe 10 minutes maximum for running.

no wonder i'm packing on the pounds.

i blame Target. Clearly they are not maintaining their scales.

it would be helpful for you to run maybe 5 minutes, walk 2, do another 5, walk 2, maybe 3 or 4 times, instead of all at once. youll get in more then 10 minutes, and then gradually increase your time.
