I was just writing in the Milk & Honey thread that very few people (and equally few establishments) really understand cocktails for what they are (or were, or ought to be). Boudreau was one of the few. I know of other serious bartenders who have gone through similar upheavals, and it's really quite awful. I was at Flatiron in NYC on Thursday night, a supposedly stunning cocktail bar by any reasonable measure, and even there the bartenders were not as much good as slick. Vessel must've had too many 'jersey girls' with their proto Sex and the City Cosmos and Amjacks with Jaegerbombs and the adolescent alcoholic cunnilingus that is the Jello shot. ~ Huntsman

Yes, the Pike/Pine corridor is kind of sketchy at times. When you walk up, you should chat with Juan Pedro - he'll be right outside the corner that Barney's is on.
