It's a totally different look. Night and day.

If it helps you get a job, what the hell. It will always grow back.

I would def. smarten up the hair now. Without the goatee it looks lonely.

I don't get the problem with the hair. It looks like he shortened the back a while ago, and there's nothing wrong with having a little length on top. Not everything needs to be close-cropped, and presumably he can bring down the volume/height a little when he styles it before an interview.

Looks better without the cheesy facial hair. If you really feel the need for something on your face, try some stubble that is not trimmed into a certain shape (although some guys will need to take some off their high cheekbones to make it look a little better). The hair is alright as it is, but if it were me and I wanted long hair I'd shorten the front/top a bit and have the split somewhere other than the middle of my head.
