Pretty much every article is from magazines, although women have it even worse in their publications. It's always struck me as interesting that the best discussions and articles on nutrition and health are on the internet instead of in print, while for most other topics it's the other way around.

I think it's a LOT easier to restrict caloric intake on six-ish meals a day. Makes it a lot easier (for me, anyway) to deal with hunger.
Is this sarcasm? I don't know your stance on the idea. I think it's a hell of a lot harder to restrict calorie intake on 5-6 meals a day. It's hard to go from eating larger meals to eating a bunch of small ones, so most people (that I know at least) end up eating many extra calories b/c they have a hard time settling into eating smaller portions.

Nope, I'm completely serious. Portion control isn't a problem for me, I guess. I also understand that it's different for everyone. But once your appetite adjusts somewhat to a lower-calorie diet, I find it much easier to eat, have the hunger go away for a couple hours, then just deal with an hour of hunger before repeating. As opposed to three meals a day, where I eat, have the hunger go away for a couple hours (this is basically as long as it takes for me to get hungry no matter how much I eat), then deal with three to four hours of hunger.

True. I've done the 5-6 meal a day thing before, and after the first week or so, it is easier to get into the habit. Although, for the entire month I did it, I had portion control problems. It really does help in regards to energy levels, for me at least. I used to zone out about 10 AM and then about 3 PM b/c of low blood sugar, etc. When I was eating every couple of hours, it was easier for me to stay awake and alert.

I agree, other reasons for eating consistently throughout the day may be hogwash, but it certainly helps me to control hunger.

Agree on the multiple meals a day. I don't really have meals, per se. I guess I have a conventional meal at lunch, and most of the time for dinner, but I don't consider a can of organic soup a "meal," really, or today, I had a bowl of quinoa and beans at 8PM -- that's not really a meal, or dinner, it's just what I eat at this time of the night. A meal, like breakfast, is eggs, hash browns, sausage, etc. Or even if it's healthier. But in the AM I have a little bit of cereal with milk and a banana. More of a snack. A delicious snack.
