Picasso or David Burke ?

Am going to Vegas this upcoming weekend. We've done most of the good to great restaurants in Vegas.. the two we haven't hit yet are

Picasso at the Belagio and
David Burke at the Venetian.

If anyone has been to either or both of these places, we'd welcome your insight.

Thanks.

It has been a long time ago, so my memory is a little a fuzzy, but the food at the Picasso was not THAT good. The service is what you would expect from a place like that, and the ambience is nice (you get to see the Picasso art inside and have a view of the Bellagio lake outside). Overall, it`s a nice and convenient place to have a romantic dinner with the wife.

I haven`t been to the other one, so I can not compare.

I had dinner at Picasso around Christmas-time last year, and would agree with Dragon's assessment. The ambiance and service were great, but the food didn't live up to the rest of the experience. Not that it was bad, but it definitely wasn't as memorable as other restaurants I've been to that didn't have two Michelin stars.

I was at Picasso with my wife in March of this year. Ambience was excellent. Price was fairly reasonable for the location. Food was not bad but not excellent. If you do go, I do suggest the fixed menu with the wine pairing.

Wife and I ate at Picasso last year.
It was meh. It really felt like they were coasting.
The room is nice. Service was adequate.
Food wasn't memorable except for the foie gras which was exceptional.

Everthing I've heard about David Burke makes me want to stay away.

What have you heard about David Burke? The reviews I've read have raved.

We've done everything from Mixx to Aureole to all of the steak places... wanted a change of pace.

Check out the southwest forum on chowhound.com
There are plenty of favorable reviews but enough bad ones that it makes me not
want to take a chance. I always discount the reviews at each end of the spectrum
but like I said, there were enough bad ones to make me not want to bother.
I remember they made some rather drastic sounding personel changes fairly
shortly after they opened. Maybe they're better now.

How about one of the new places in the Venetian addition?
We're going to Cut next month.

Probably too late to respond to this one but..... I've been to David Burke's Primehouse in Chicago. It's very good, but there is better food in Vegas ( and I'm not a HUGE fan of Vegas food). The reviews of Picasso seem luke-warm at best. Have you considered Alex, Bradley Ogden, the new Simon (poolside at the Palms), Bouchon? I suggested those because they represent Alex : ultra-fine dining Simon: outdoor seating (which I think is one of the benefits of Picasso) Bradley Ogden: Reasonable Prices Bouchon: Just my favorite overall place in Vegas
