Yep.

I have a gray Lumb's Golden Bale sharkskin due in Boston from NSM, among other things, this weekend. It's a three button two, with just two flapped hip pockets, like the one above...it will be interesting to see how it differs. The suits on this NSM round are more conservative, so the jackets are a tad longer than the earlier casual ones.

With Edwin: beside the covert coat, things percolating with Steed include a new SB dinner jacket and semi-formal vest, a DB suit in the I-don't-work-for-anyone Minnis AF blue chalkstripe flannel, and a potentially over-the-top thick cashmere overcoat with a shawl Astrakhan collar. You know, same old, same old...lookaround.gif

Are you using this MBT for other stuff?

I believe he retired.

Any experience with Karl Matthews? Is he a good cutter? I see that he has just launched a new website: http://www.karlmatthews.co.uk/

Well it says he worked under Hitchcock and also Paul Griffiths, who I believe works for Tom Mahon now.

Karl's pedigree looks like 100% percent A&S. In addition to Paul, who tailors for Tom, he also trained under Alan Pitt, another A&S cutter. Here's a picture from Tom's blog of 4 of the ex-A&S people who ended up in Carlisle:

Clockwise from top left, we have Paul (in the baseball cap), Alan, Tom, and Edwin Steed.

I seem to recall that most of Mr. Matthews's mileage at A&S was in the tailoring rooms and then at the front of the house, rather than styling and cutting.

There's no accounting for natural talent; nor, should there be discounting of deep experience.

Just sayin'.

Is the left pocket flap 1/2" wider than the right? By design, right?

As opposed to Fap Porn, which has been around forever.

smile.gif It does look odd in the first photograph.

I won't let it disturb my serenity.

If we're lucky, Foo won't see it and I'll avoid the shame of his whip.

Really? Surprised it took you so long - bespoke coats are a must have in my book.

Interesting mix of British tailoring (suit coat, breast welt) and Neapolitan aesthetics (cutaway fronts, slim trousers with whispering breaks).

Very 1964 . . .
