Perhaps they were the two rival groups.

that was thor hyderdal's theory. DNA studies have not proved it.

well, I enjoyed riding the quad and navigating. some people (really hardcore) surf, but it requires that you get towed out and then picked up before you get to shore - the shore is very rocky where the surf is good. some people dive, but there isn't a reef, they dive to the caves on the cliffs. and there is fishing. I was surprised that a lot of people come for a week, and there is somebody who stays at my guest house who comes every year for a week. I can't imagien that the fishing/diving/surfing justify the expense and time of the visit.

the 2 beaches are very nice, too, but they are colder than a tropical beach.

Very nice pictures, thanks for sharing. I am very envious, as I have always wanted to go to Easter Island. Next year, I will be in Peru, but I think that in order to fly to Easter Island, I would first have to fly to Chile. Might me a bit much.
