I am going to graduation and was wondering how to make a navy suit look more spicy. I only have this suit at the moment and have usually worn it for interviews with white or blue shirts with a red tie. I don't want to wear the interview outfit to graduation and was wondering if you gentleman can suggest some shirt, tie and socks combos that are a little more fancy. I have black shoes (AE PAs) that I will be wearing with the outfit. It would be ideal if I could pick these up from a store in NYC/NJ TOMORROW - need these for friday. I am not trying to spend a fortune. Fire away and thanks!

Getting rid of that pair of AE PA will automatically make you look 10 years younger.

Just wear your white shirt with open collar, with a white pocket square and rose on your lapel. And brown shoes. That would be spicy enough.

For my graduation last week, I wore a dark navy BB suit , white shirt, a light pink tie and matching pocket square. I think that if you get the right pocket square and tie combo you will have the look you desire. Also, if you are bold, get French cuff and links. Good luck and enjoy the graduation.

I always think a nice pair of shoes really looks good as well. They are at the end of your suit and everyone will notice what shoes you have on. None of the cheapie rental shoes!

BTW, what are AE PA's? Not up on all of the brands.

White shirt with the collar unbuttoned, white pocket square, new shoes. - Like something you would see Tom Ford wearing.

If you really want to stand out, start the night off with a bow tie, then take it off and open up the shirt as your vision blurs and the women become more attractive.

I gota pair of old burgundy cole haans that will do. socks to match?

I rather wear a tie and then go to an open shirt afterwards. Any shirt + tie combos that you recommend? Or is white the best?

A pocket square - Is that a bit much + I don't have one....

I think the bow tie look is something that definitely could spice up the suit. Or perhaps trying a brighter color tie, maybe a light green. A rose on the lapel is a nice touch, or some interesting socks could add spice: think purple socks or maybe lime green.

Get one. White linen. They don't cost much and women will compliment you on it, guaranteed.

NY or NJ area, try any Nordstrom, Bloomingdales or similar dept store. Don't let them sell you a white cotton hankie, stick to the white linen. It will probably be about 12 x 12"

As far as a tie, why not wear a nice striped tie in fun colors along with your white shirt. Add the white PS and you will be looking good!
