Paris will win. I hate to say it but London and the wider UK has got zero reputation for staging major sporting events on this scale, especially after the World Athletic Championships debacle. Little or nothing is built, and I think this will be a factor following the panic over Athens being ready. Our track history for major public works is poor. Paris has much in place, and far from its stance politically over certain world events being a hindrance, I think it will help in its bid, this will of course be at the expense of the USA and the UK. The US have had the games recently, as have Spain, and Moscow is an unknown quantity post communism for many reasons. I would like the games to be held in the UK (so we can get some much needed investment), but think we will have to take the Eurostar to watch events. If we do win it I would like to see a more radical games, with many "sports" dropped, as frankly it is a monstrosity, far too expensive to stage and my personal view is that many of the medals and events are of dubious value. (Beach volleyball on Horse Guards indeed, a damned disgrace) Having said all that I have little interest in the Olympic Games, an awful, self important, self satisfied and corrupt organisation and concept so what does my opinion on where they have it matter.
