Which city will win the right to host 2012 Olympic

It narrowed down to 5 finalists, which city do you think will win the 2012 Olympic? I'd like New York to win but eventually Paris will be the winner.

I would trully hope London, really, do you think that many people want to come to NY in the dead heat of the summer, and Paris, there would be a revolt with all that is going on iin the world...London on the other hand, no heat to worry about, loads of room outiside of the city for events, plenty of good beer, nice people, and the food is getting better....Wimbley will be finished by then, and I think it would be a nice change....but whatever they do, please do not ever bring it back to Atlanta.

Paris will win. I hate to say it but London and the wider UK has got zero reputation for staging major sporting events on this scale, especially after the World Athletic Championships debacle. Little or nothing is built, and I think this will be a factor following the panic over Athens being ready. Our track history for major public works is poor. Paris has much in place, and far from its stance politically over certain world events being a hindrance, I think it will help in its bid, this will of course be at the expense of the USA and the UK. The US have had the games recently, as have Spain, and Moscow is an unknown quantity post communism for many reasons. I would like the games to be held in the UK (so we can get some much needed investment), but think we will have to take the Eurostar to watch events. If we do win it I would like to see a more radical games, with many "sports" dropped, as frankly it is a monstrosity, far too expensive to stage and my personal view is that many of the medals and events are of dubious value. (Beach volleyball on Horse Guards indeed, a damned disgrace) Having said all that I have little interest in the Olympic Games, an awful, self important, self satisfied and corrupt organisation and concept so what does my opinion on where they have it matter.

London has about as good a chance as Moscow, which is to say, they don't have one. There is absolutely no way London could handle that kind of an influx of people, I'm sorry to say. What happens when the tube overcrowds and they have to close Oxford circus? New York SHOULD get it, as Americans seem to care more about the Olympics than any other country (with the possible exception being the Chinese government), and because the plan, with the exception of the stadium, is relatively sound. Paris WILL get it because they can pull it off without too much construction, and will do it well. Plus, there is enough anti-Americanism out there to sway the voting. Though I could be wrong. We'll have to wait 8 months to find out.

I hope London doesn't win. For all the reasons Nonk has stated, and because it will have to be paid for by taxes, and therefore by me. The apparent level of corruption within the Olympic heirarchy and the endless drug scandals involving competitors have devalued it all for me. I agree that Paris will probably get it, and is well suited. The French are well used to being invaded by large numbers of foreigners, and will no doubt collaborate fully to make the venture a success.

Really, I thought that the IOC's policy was to select a city which promised to build the most white elephants and monuments to the games. So, it wouldn't help at all if the city already had the infrastructure for the games. Otherwise, a city like LA would be perfect to host the olympics. Unfortunately, this adds billions to the cost, and yet the IOC doesn't want the games to be privatized too much, a la Atlanta. Look at what happened to Greece. They're in such a deep financial hole from hosting the games. I believe if you were to spread the debt, each Greek person would owe 10 or 20 thousand dollars each.
