I don't know if you can give a car a name, I think the name has to come from the universe, by serendipity. I never named a car in my life, then one day about twelve years ago, I parked my 1972 Chevy Caprice in front of a Silver Lake liquor store and a black guy drinking beer from a paper bag walked up and asked "how long you had the Glasshouse?" After my initial confusion, he explained that "back home, in Detroit, we call that car a Glasshouse." I told my friends and instantly the name stuck, and everyone called that car The Glasshouse forever after. A few years later I got a similar car, a 1971 Impala. It was dark green and I tried to call it the Green House. It didn't stick. You got to let God send an emissary to name your car for you. Otherwise, it's just the E55.

So true.
My daughter named our cars. The names were perfect. Nobody else could have done it so well.

With a wink toward some of the inevitable connotations of driving an M3, I dubbed my Interlagos blue one "Blue Steel".
