a couple that i'm very good friends with just bought a nice beach house in long island and i'd like to buy them a present for the house - ideally in the $150-200 range. does anyone have any good suggestions? id love to keep it locally themed, or 'beach' themed ideally.

Do people actually buy gifts for people who have just bought houses?

My god, there is so much I have to learn about being an adult.

Step 1: How to not fall asleep when girls start talking about engagements.
Step 2: ???

Surprisingly yes. The answer to this and all other similar questions is booze. Always booze.

Buy them a book of cocktail recipes, and then several bottles of good booze, not forgetting tequila and rum for Summer drinks.

I've given several friends with beach/lake houses those indoor/outdoor thermometers. It mounts on a wall indoors and has a wireless sensor that you mount outdoors so you know the temps indoors and outdoors. They've been a hit.

Of course, candlesticks make a nice gift....

Binoculars are fun along the beach.

A couple of really nice kites can be a fun activity and a great way to meet people.

Beach chairs - they don't have to be expensive and are always appreciated. (go for canvas and wood.

An ice chest.

A beach bag or day pack.

I have some great napkins for sale.
made of either linen or 100% cotton in a blue and white picnic theme.
they napkin rings are fashioned to look like cuffs with a pearl button and buttonhole.
