Emo hairstyles

I was on the subway yesterday sitting opposite a guy, probably mid-twenties, dressed in a suit and on his way to work. What caught my eye was his hair. He had hair down to the shirt collar at the back, front and sides, and rather than slicking it back, he had slicked it down to his sideburns and bangs. Doing this made him look unwashed, unprofessional and mentally challenged. Where was I when it became OK to not get a haircut or even a hairstyle, but just to gel your hair in place?

Someone shoot Pete Wentz already. This would solve two issues:
1. Get rid of the crap band he plays in, and
2. Help stop this emo crap once and for all.

To finally answer your question, it has never been OK. Some people just don't have a clue.

New York like any big city's got all types, though I was never aware of this being the norm.
