Good deals on Avon Celli knits, Malo Spcts

OK, since I've benefited from past 'public service' announcements around sales, here goes: The Filene's on Conn Ave has a large selection third-markdown Avon Celli sweaters. Most are in size 50 or smaller (US Medium or so). They are $129 each (down from $245 Filene's price, and $600+ retail) and are in a variety of fabrics, including a selection in 100% camel - I couldn't resist and grabbed one of those. The Avon Celli is mixed in with Zegna on the 'recently discounted' rack towards the middle of the 2nd floor. Also, there was a gorgeous 40R Malo wool sportcoat with patch pockets in a light tan. It was marked at $299, was quarter lined and looked like it was very well-made, with nice clean visible seams and what appeared to be 'double-face' construction (just two layers of cloth, no lining or very little lining - not sure if that impression is right, but that is how it felt). If you are interested, It was sitting in the 44 section of the sportcoats yesterday. It needs a good home. I almost bought it to flip on Ebay, I liked it so much. The only questionable aspect came from the plastic buttons. Really a shame that they didn't invest there. Finally, all suits are 25% off, including a decent selection of Oxxfords - if you sign up for a Filene's acc't you can get a NWT Oxxford for $675.

The Mazza Gallerie Filene's in DC also has tons of Avon Celli for $129 per. And Zegna. I'm looking forward to the late January load of stuff from Bergdorf's. It's at that Filene's sale that I bought three amazing St. Andrews/Bergdorf's suits for $600 each. And they had lots of the other great suitmakers too, including Attolini, Brioni, Luciano Barbera, Cifonelli, etc. The Attolini's were the most expensive of the bunch -- I think they were going for around $1,250 at Filene's, and they got snapped up in the first week of the sale. The Barney's "load" will follow soon after (at least it did last year). The Neimans and Saks at Mazza Gallerie both are having decent sales -- about 1/3 off. E.g., the $575 Oxxford slacks are now @$375. $275 Lorenzini shirts are $195. Borrelli shirts are still well over $200 even with the discount (@$250 I think). I noticed that most of the Turnbull shirts are gone already, and I didn't see a single Kiton left.
