Double Breasted Style. - Page 170

I will tentatively step forward and stick my head out for chopping and ask for advice, esteemed thread members...

I own the below. It's quite a large, noticeable pattern, and the cloth itself, whilst soft to the touch, remains quite textured. As such I believe it appropriate for casual wear. I've not worn it for a decade.

Now, I know the "grey odd jacket" is one of the SF Official Sartorial Crimes (another being Northern Lights which would also apply here) but some also refer to it as an "advanced move" and I'd like to explore that side of things, for a very casual occasion (by SF standards).

I was thinking of three pairs of trousers that could match it. One is burnt orange thin cords. The second is forest green. The third, safest is navy. The fourth, jeans although I try not to wear jeans with a jacket.

I'd love to hear your thoughts. PS ideas also welcome.

The jacket:

  1. Very dark (Oxford) grey. For use with black shoes.
  2. Mid/charcoal grey.
  3. Whatever else floats your boat. Some variant of khaki could certainly work, or maybe slate blue.

For very casual, a lot depends on the season. In warmer weather you could do white, yellow, Nantucket red...

I love making topcoats and have a few ideas floating around in my head at present. Some ideas are working with double faced cloth. Another idea is totally technical, as in a new technique to make the lapels and coat front.  Just don't have time to spend  on these pieces now.

Plenty of pictures of my topcoats have been shown online

This is great. Never heard of them before, but they're obviously doing a lot right.
