This is somewhat old news (as of late April), but I'm just getting the details now. Mitch Hurwitz, Ron Howard, Jason Bateman and others have confirmed that everyone is on board. Howard is directing, Hurwitz is writing the script right now. It looks like a go. I am so excited.

I'm betting that Ron Howard can definitely manage to make a cohesive movie and do a good job on it. Generally, TV -> movies feel like four episodes crunched together, but in the case of Arrested Development there's just so much talent there that I can see it coming together.

The show didn't do too well in ratings so I wonder which studio would green light this movie? I love that show but this doesn't have commercial success written all over it...

From what I understand, the DVD's have sold like crazy. The show has developed a huge following since it ended.

Oh shit. Is it going to be a theater film or a straight to dvd type thing? IMDB says they're filming in Orange County, FL which is Orlando area. Where did they film the original series? But where did the lighter fluid come from?

Plus, it doesn't have to be a block, uh, buster.

I would think it will do pretty well, so long as it's passably good. If it's not, bad reviews might kill it--I think the target audience is pretty tuned in to that kind of thing.
