So i waltzed into martin greenfield today...

...and walked out with an order in for a mtm suit. I'm excited since it was my first real mtm experience and i have very high hopes for the finished product. I'm typing this on my phone so i'll make it brief for now. The only down side of my order was that martin was not there to take my measurements himself. I ordered a 2 btn navy suit in gladson 120s wool and cashmere fabric. It cost me $1100. I was going to order from tat but they suggested that i find something else since my wedding is on june 22. It was really an experience walking into a bustling suit factory right in the heart of dt brooklyn. When i go back for my fitting i'm going to ask if i can see the production. Also, the tailor told me that bloomberg just ordered 13 suits from the same fabric book. My fingers are starting to hurt so i'll post more later.

I just ordered a MTM navy blazer for my wedding. I too am excited. I ordered it through Brooks Brothers, Goldenfleece which is made by Marting Greenfield. I went with a Loro Piana Ultimate Tasmanian, great cloth, superb super 130s and lovely hand. It ran me $1695, but I think it will be worth it for my wedding.

Does anyone know what they charge for MTM jackets and trousers?

I didn't realize that they were open to walk-in customers. I was under the mistaken impression that it was difficult to become a new customer.

Martin Greenfield's son told me that they usually do their MTM work by appointment only. He did not mention anything about being selective about whom they accept as customers. I just googled their address, drove to the factory, walked up to the receptionist and said "I want to buy a suit." She told me to wait for Mr Greenfield. After about twenty minutes he showed up and helped me select a fabric. Then he called in the tailor who took my measurements and discussed the style (2btn, flap pockets, side vents, flat front pants, red lining, surgeon cuffs) and cut (modern fit, jacket length 1" shorter than normal). The buttons will be applied after I return for my fitting in the second week of June. They were willing to rush the suit since I am getting married on June 22nd. At my request they are making the suit without any linen in the collar or canvas since I'm an orthodox Jew and can not mix linen and wool in a garment. He wrote "Kosher" in big letters on the order sheet. All in all, I think I got a great deal considering the excellent quality of Greenfield's work and the much higher starting price of their OTR suits. EDIT: I'm not sure about all of the details but the buttonholes and pickstitching are definitely being sewn by hand.

Kosher should not be a problem since they make many of the long black coats for the chasids in the "hood" and no that is not Down town brooklyn. It is a ugly neighborhood called Bushwick!

Does Greenfield do full bespoke as well? If so, at what price?

Yup.

don't quote me here non-shatnes is OK gets the thread.. Shatness is bad and needs to be fixed, today the usual place for linen is in the undercollar canvas. And fabric of the garment, but that would be on the label.

East williamsburg is now hipper then williamsburg!!!
Greenfield is a factory. not a bespoke tailor!

Anyway, sounds like a nice deal, is the 1100 price tag including the fabric or just labor?
