Its interesting because I have never hired anyone based on a resume alone, but the one possible foot in the door, the one thing that I have to judge you by is your resume. It should be checked over 5 times and then given to someone to proof as well, because a resume isn't a reason to hire someone but it is a reason to reject someone.

I'm not sure that you quite get it, posting this on here further compounds your unprofessional conduct. If I had an email exchange like the one described in your original post I would elect not to work for the company you are involved in.

It comes over as.. "Look at me I'm so clever, I found a spelling mistake"

How is it unprofessional to post it here for discussion? He hasn't revealed any personal information about the candidate.

FIHTies, you in no way in the discourse with this dumb ***** showed unprofessional conduct. From how I read it, you were trying to give her the opportunity to redeem herself. Considering how many resumes employers get, this one would have gone automatically into many trashcans.

But she just didn't get it. She didn't take the effort to proofread carefully at the beginning and she didn't take the effort when her potential employer made an affable attempt to point out the flaw.

You, me, and almost everyone else on this board take a potential job seriously enough to go over a friggin' ONE PAGE document with a fine-tooth comb to make sure it makes a good first impression and sets ourselves apart from everyone else. That's hard enough even when you aren't referring to yourself as a "broad"!

For such a menial job, who cares about her intelligence as long as she has the right looks. If you're a true visionary, you will know that these girls make good Friday secretaries.

Curiously, since when is "broad" a derogatory term? I use it quite often. I think the first time I heard it was when I was a little kid watching "on the waterfront" starting Mr. Brando.

I don't feel that it is appropriate to share this private correspondence especially if the intent is to demean the person.

Your conduct here is much more unprofessional in my opinion. Why do you find it necessary to use such harsh and insulting language?

I find internet Mr. Nice Guy the biggest hypocrites among us. That said, the use of harsh wordings and expletives are probably unwarranted.

I sincerely, but half-assedly, apologize for using "*****" in this forum. Joseph K. Bank, I have no doubt that you are a very good person - but your sensitivity has a hair trigger.

And the other guys who are on here who are disturbed as well by the OP sharing this story: read it again! He tried to let her redeem herself he wasn't like a cat playing with a lame mouse!

I think the story is worth telling as well because it played out like a "blond joke" in real life! The anonymity of the internet makes this very harmless story worth telling.

Actually Its clear to me that you don't get it. The woman was clearly not intelligent in so many ways which is not in itself a crime. But instead of listening to somene who is trying to help her without outright embarrasing her she indignantly responds and shows me that "I CANNOT BE WRONG, and I AM NOT OPEN TO CRITICISM" even when prefaced that it was constructive. I could have easily told her, Hey DumbA$$, the word is Board of Education, and you are stupid but I assumed that it was an innocent typo. I tried to let her see the mistake herself. Instead she doesn't even contemplate that she has done something at all not correct and defensively shows me what an imbecile she really is. You think that Its acceptable to email a document to a prospective employer that isn't proofed and checked over with a fine tooth comb? Do you think its acceptable to show to an interview wearing dirty and stained clothing or smelling? Do you think its acceptable to email me a resume with a return address SexyTwoShoes or yUrHoTlUvUrFoReVaH!? The issue is not merely one of a spelling mistake. Its all about the Dumbing down of America and the indignation and indifference that so many people have even when they aren't in the position to so behave. You see, this is the kind of stupidity I deal with when I am hiring. I have read close to if not ten thousand resumes in my lifetime and the stupidity that I have come across is mind boggling. No its not a crime to be dumb, but if you show me in any way that you don't even care to make the best impression you can and if you say in other words or actions, my effort is good enough because I don't want to overwork myself, then I say thats fine, but I don't want to hire you. Is that really unprofessional? Oh, you can rest assured that if we had a similar conversation in an email exchange you wouldn't be working for me.

I suspect that you are serious about this. Are you also looking for a job? And no M@t. She at least had enough self respect to not continue the conversation.

Yes I am serious and while I have been looking for employment unsuccessfully for over four months now I have to decline your offer of interest on ethical reasons, not mentioning that it is not the type of position I am perusing.
