SHIRT COLLAR MEASUREMENTS

sorry to bother everyone with a question that i recall being answered a while ago..i have seen descriptions on ebay for -Size - it is marked a size 15 (38cm) and it measures to a US size 15...actual collar measurement - 15.5 is this standard or do some 15s measure larger or smaller?

Some shirt manufacturers add a bit to account for shrinkage; others truly run "true-to-size"... For example, Borrelli shirts always run a little big, whereas Lorenzini (at the least the ones I've bought from NM) tend to run more true-to-size... JV

a 15" collar should measure around 15.5" to 15.75" when brand new. it can then shrink to 15.5" after a couple of washings. the seller must be measuring a brand new shirt.

This info is for those who have started buying shirts with inches and centimeters for size identification. 37 / 141/2 actually is about 1/32 > than 14 1/2 38 / 15 actually is 1/32 < than 15 39 / 15 1/2 actually is 1/8 < than 15 1/2 40 / 15 3/4 is exact 41 /16 actually 1/8 > than 16 42 / 16 1/2 is exact 43 / 17 actually 3/32 < than 17 44/ 17 1/2 actually 5/32 < than 17 1/2 45/ 18 actually 7/32 < than 18 As I've always stated, it's best to try on instead of relying on numbers. One finger width between you and the top button is the best for a good fit after the shirt sizes itself through laundering.
