They don't sell the GT everywhere. It's exceptionally long and narrow, even more so than the 875, which is probably the closest commonly available substitute.

For my Iron Rangers and GT's I went with 9.5.

They both received gel insoles on arrival and fit like a glove for me.

I *highly* recommend going with some insoles in them as they were a bit painful without them.

Now the both feel great.

Incidentally, the Iron Rangers required less breakin than the GT's did for me.

Hi, I'm new here, but I'm having quite a dilemma involving sizing the Gentleman Travelers.

I've read the thread here, and all the reviews on Zappos, and I've followed all the sizing advice... I normally wear a 10.5 running shoe, and a 9.5 in low-top chucks, and I ordered a 9.5... but the heel slips a bit as I walk. I exchanged them for a 9, and it fits like a glove in the heel...but is maybe a little snug on the toes on my left foot (which is larger than my right). I'm wondering if anyone can advise me on what to do here? Should I stay with the snug fit and expect the leather to stretch into place? Has anyone tried taking them to a cobbler for proper stretching?

I've tried putting an insert in the 9.5, but even then there's a hint of heel slippage. I've never paid this much money for shoes before, so I want it to be right. But I don't want shoes that will feel too tight and never wear them.

Snug and stretch? Versus loose and live with it? I want it to be perfect... and if the leather stretches a bit, the 9 will be. But I don't want to bet on that without advice, because I won't know until they're properly broken in.

i have had the some problem. my left foot is 2mm longer than my right one. at first i had a pair in the size us10d, but after a while (3 weeks) my left toe get in contact with the shoe and after some hours i fell some pain. so i decided to get a us10,5d wchich fits perfect. but like someone wrote before, take an insole or try to fix your feet with the laces. at the beginning its quit painfull, after after a week its fine.

Maybe just to gently deodorize them every once in awhile but thats it. I have beat the **** out of mine for a year and have polished them every couple of weeks and there is barely any creasing.

I would have just kept what you had and tried some insoles. I think you went too small if they hurt your feet now.

Insoles have different thicknesses and you could have made up for the slippage with those IMO.

FWIW: Last year I bought some GT's and went down an full size, based on a friend's recommendation. I got a sz 9, and I usually wear 10 in most sneaker brands, 9.5 in most dress shoes. The length was perfect, but at first they squeezed the sides of my feet a little bit. I also noticed it was very hard to even get my feet in the boots, I usually had to loosen up almost all the laces to be able to put my foot in. Between that and the sides squeezing my foot, I was worried I had bought the wrong size. But within a month of wear, they became perfect in every way. It became easy to put the boots on and the leather broke in and no longer squeezed my foot. The insole molded to my feet and the more i wore them the more comfortable they got. I love a heavy duty but comfortable boot, i wore them to two foreign countries (to live up to the GT name) and i can tell you that these can really take a beating. I applied some Obenauf LP at the 6-month mark, and realized I wish I had done this sooner. It made the boots that much more comfortable. I just buffed them with a soft cloth last weekend and took some pics:

i love them, i used to prefer wearing sneakers for comfort, but honestly i like wearing these more. since they are so versatile, they have been my go-to footwear for all of this year. i wish i got them in black cherry though, that color is just so rich!

I noticed that I had some fraying of the outer stitching of my GTs (toward the heel). Anyone had this issue and is there any reason to be concerned? If so, any advice?

Thinking of getting a pair of GT- Black Cherry. Can somebody tell me the difference between the GT 9014 / 9011? Is it just the color of the boot or is there any construction / material?
Want to wear the boots for work. Anybody know if they look okay /w khakie pants? I have 7.5 - 8 inch leg opening. Will probably go /w a size 8. Don't want it to look like ronald mcdonalds feet
