Red Wing Gentleman's Traveler - Page 12

These are insanely stiff... I was wearing shit socks in them yesterday from 10am to 10pm and my feet hurt like hell... next time I'll definitely wear a thicker sock.

Any recommendations?

put it this way, I would get whatever UK size your PS 'ricard' boots are and add ½ to it for Red Wings. If that's not avail, you could probably just go with the UK Ricard size in American Red Wing size, tho YMMV.

Anyways, the point of my post: there's a store in Toronto, Get Outside, that is selling the GTs in black and cherry for $179 CAD plus $15 to ship to the US (free shipping within Canada).

For dress shoes I have:

9D AE Hale
9D AE Taunton (Borderline loose.)
9D AE Bel Air
9D AE Mora (Borderline loose.)
9D AE Soho
8.5 AE Soho (Borderline tight.)

I bought an 8 in the Red Wing GT and I'm very happy I did, as they fit perfectly in my opinion. (They required a bit of fighting to get into for the first week or so, but they're absolutely perfect now.)

I suggest sizing 1 down for the GT if you have a narrow or normally wide foot.

Just go with your gut. If they are too big, do what Get Smart suggested, put an insole in. They will be 10x more comfortable this way.

Alright, I picked these up at the post office this evening...AWESOME boots. Now the dilemma: these definitely fit big vs. your true foot size (in case anyone reading still has a doubt), but I'm unsure whether just .5 big or 1 full size. I received a pair of 8.5 and am thinking I could size down to an 8. When I walk around, I don't feel my heels touching the heel counter as there's approximately a 5mm gap. The toe area feels fine; while there's wiggle room up front, I don't think my feet could slide up any further into the toebox because of the width.

Basically, if these weren't ankle boots, I might get heel lift. With leather soled dress shoes, this is reduced as the shoe breaks in. Should I expect the same with these?

The only thing that I can say for sure is: THANKS GAVIN for the link to getoutside.com, can't beat $179CAD shipped!

Any one want to share pics of them wearing their GTs?

I just ordered mine and sized down half a size from my dress shoe size

What sorts of pants do people like to pair their black cherry GTs with? Unfortunately my only jeans with a big enough hem for these boots are faded to a point that the blue really doesn't go well with the black cherry.

Actually, I'll wear mine with my current denim of choice: H&M Sliq rinsed denim 32x32. Slim fitting without being skintight/feminine.

Try making an acct with a US address. If you live outside the EU, you don't pay VAT.
