They fit true to size, while Barrie is .5 to 1 size larger.

Do the 1907's fit differently than other Red Wing wedge sole moc-toes?

It's made with the same last as the 875.

They do look a bit like clown shoes though ffffuuuu.gif
And yes, the breaking-in process is not that comfortable but bearable. crazy.gif

Second time wearing the Beckman to break them in...

Ankles still hurt ffffuuuu.gif

Hello everyone,

This is my first post here and actually discovered this thread while searching for a shoe polish that fits my black cherry beckman chukkas (J.Crew edition). While I did resolve that issue, I just started noticing how this shoe's wood-like heel is scuffing, causing the natural color of the wood to show through. Does anyone else have knowledge regarding how to touch this flaw up? Seems to happen rather easily and the thought of swabbing wood stain on my boots would've been the last idea to cross my mind when making this purchase.

I'll upload pics later whenever I'm not on my mobile.

Thanks.

you need some edge dressing.  it's like wood stain, only easier!  AE has it on sale with free shipping.

hi everyone,

i used this thread as a reference for sizing when i bought my cherry red beckmans. i figured since i had used this as a resource when ordering online, others do too, so i want to add my experience with sizing. i had to size a full size down from my usual size (ordered both a 8 and 7.5 and returned the 8; i usually wear 8.5).

for reference, i wear 8.5 in nikes, 41 in common projects.

hope this helps someone

cheers

Your shoe size is an 8. You size up .5 in Nike and down .5 in RW.

No one ever uses Nike as their base shoe size.

Thank you much. I stopped by a shoe repair shop the other day and asked the owner what he suggested. He said it's actually leather and I should try a light brown shoe polish on the area first. I think he did mention using a shoe dressing on it if the polish didnt resolve it.

On a side note, does anyone else find the sole on these beckmans do not hold up all that well? Within the first couple wearings I already had some very noticeable wearing on the tread near the toes, despite shoes being a harder leather. I always try to take precautions when wearing them and also dropped driving with them - a manual transmission and black rubber floor mats equate in too much scuffing.

Hi Guys:

Just wanted to tell you after reading here for a while, I finally pulled the trigger on some 9011's and also bought the Iron Ranger brogues. I love them both although have only had them for a couple of days. I have been following Brian Mendoza's recomendations for treatment - with RW conditioner, except (although ordered) my saphir hasn't arrived yet. Also wanted to tell you I was really happy with the price and service. Reasearch online lead me to a Red Wing retail store in KS at overland park. I got about 1/3 off retail plus no shipping and no tax. Received both in about 3 days. Kevin is the manager and a real nice guy. Don't want to sound like a shill but I would definately buy again from him.

I picked up a pair of 9011's as well. I bought the Wolverine 1K's a few yrs ago and am happy with the RW's so far. I absolutely love the color. As I remember, they are stiff as hell out of the box (unlike the 1K's). However, I broke them in slowly an hour or so per day indoors then a couple hrs a day for a week or so. They've become very comfortable in a relatively short amount of time. We all know what they look like but here are the obligatory pics nonetheless. Belt is by Corter Leather, available in Latigo from Ball & Buck, Boston.

I'll update down the road. For reference, my 1K's look like this:
