I was trying to get it somewhere for a cheaper price but since I don't really have any other alternatives, I'll try Zappos for the easy returns.

If they did, screw them.... I'm glad I put my order in before the hike.

If I decide to spring for the black pair as welll, buisiness elsewhere. Maybe I'll finally give Zappos some buisiness.

I wear red wing's while working . Never knew these to be 'dress' shoes. I don't think I could ever wear them as 'everyday' shoes.

I want a pair of these sooo bad, how are they for sizing? I've heard they run a little big, I'm normally a US 12, what size should I pick up?

I sized down one whole size from my normal shoe size.

For reference, I wear: 8 Converse; 8 Red Wings; 8.5 Clarks; 8.5 NDC; 9 most Alden; 9 New Balance; 10 Nike.

I just gave my black GTs a nice shine. My first time ever shining shoes. They look great but did I not think to avoid putting the black polish on the white stitching, but it the stitching is still visible.

Moral of the story: be careful using polish on contrast stiching.

Has anyone ever used neutral shoe polish?

I've used neutral polish on black Red Wings before. The result is good, but if you have serious scuffs, they still show through. So it's probably best to use black polish on scuffed spots, and then go over the whole shoe with neutral polish.

Does anyone know a way to remove shoe polish from contrast stitching on shoes without damaging the leather? I've searched around and haven't found a specific answer. I've had this problem too, and would like to undo my mistake!

I've had my black cherry GTs for about a month now and they've been just great. They took a while to break in but now they're really comfortable. I plan on wearing these boots hard and seeing how they turn out. So far, I've been using them as motorcycle boots and everyday boots. Before long, they'll be seeing lots of use in the rain. I've noticed that they do scuff up quite easily but they polish up really nicely.

So has anyone gone ahead with a beeswax based waterproofing on these yet? I'm awfully curious on the how this changes the look/ feel of the boots, I want to waterproof mine without going silicone.

Water resistant... I think this warm weather will be a great time to proof them with some Sno-Seal. Probably will be a week or so til I get around to it. For a good read on why I'm choosing Sno-Seal, read this article: http://www.scoutingdigest.com/index....sk=view&id=100 Then I'm transferring that knowledge and critically interpreting the results of this helpful experiment on waterproofing products. http://www.hotchkiss.k12.co.us/hhs/E...en/leather.htm Sno-seal should the real winner for boots, even over the Huberd's.

I just had to update this thread. I've had my pair for about 2 weeks now. I did not know what to make of the reports that these were painful when breaking in, but the reports were all correct! I had a blister on my ankle which even bled half a drop.

After the bleeding stopped (there is a tough-guy callous there now), they are perfect. I sized half down from my dress shoe size. They are comfortable, they look great. They feel like they mold more to the shape of my foot each time I wear them. Or maybe I foot is deforming into the shape of GTs.

I'm not really sure these are part of the Gentleman's Traveler series, but here's a picture of my roughly 8 month old red wing 1906 centennial boots, worn mostly during last fall/winter/spring. I clean them religiously, almost every evening after I've worn them, with warm water and a shoe brush then toweled dry. keeps the sole nice and white, and I absolutely love the contrast with the leather which has darkened very nicely.
