Does anyone else here have a problem with smiling in photos? I have two issues with it, myself: (1) I can't make myself smile at will, and (2) I'm somewhat opposed to it on principle. I don't mind when I'm caught smiling in a candid shot, but smiling for a posed shot seems somewhat contrived to me.

Of course, this means everone always thinks I'm pissed.

I am extremely camera shy for some reason so if I see one pointed at me there is not going to be any chance of me smiling anyway.

No, I don't. It has to be spontaneous... but still I just look awful when I do it...
Even with a little help... like saying, "Smile!" or "Say it, Cheese!".

I think there is a way to smile on cue that actors get taught that looks ok. My girlfriends sister is at an acting school and they get taught (and have to practice) smiling.

For anyone with a (slight) double chin try pushing your tongue on the roof of your mouth when smiling.

Hate it. It feels unnatural and politician like. The picture in my avatar is as close as I get to smiling, and no, in case anyone asks, its not me.

I look better when I don't smile. I can never pull off a fake smile, it just looks weird on me.

I can smile for about 4 seconds, but they can never squeeze out the shot by then, by the time the pictures taken my smile has turned into a grimace and I look like an escaped mental patient.

only the left side of your face can be easily faked, the right half (controlled by the emotional half of your brian) is much harder to lift into fake smile.

You can usually spot a faked smile by looking for this...

I'm a happy fool ( or foolish enough) so I usually smile- or at least grin.
