you should be glad you're not lurking on sufu. pretty much any male who joined this year has neg rep, probably just because he joined this year. you've never even heard of such immature pretentious assholes, who'll degrade people just because they asked a stupid question or because they started wearing supreme. at least on styleforum there are a lot of helpful people along with the assholes.

The responses in that thread wasn't nearly as entertaining as I'd hoped. I guess the forum was a bit more civil then :p

It happens though, haha. This forum is nothing compared to NeoGAF.

All jokes aside I think this is a great post. I agree 100% and have been guilty of it on ocasion ( See I Came From Nothing thread).

There are def trends that are in style, but style overall is a personal thing. To each is own. Overall I think this forum is narrow minded and def goes with whats hot right now and anything outside of that gets clowned and laughed at.

I was shocked to see someone actually give The Hundreds props in a post recently because it does not fall in with this type of "streetwear".

I like all types of brands personally. From The Hundreds, to Double RL, to Visvim, to Clot, to Crooks, Levis Factory X.... I will mesh them all together and make my own style out of what I like. I think that is a good thing, and I think people being different is a good thing too.

All that being said I am still not messing with I Came From Nothing. Joking.

I agree with you up to a point. Yes, I think that some people can be narrow minded, whether they post on the SW&D or the Men's Clothing forum. However, there is a difference between being dogmatic, and having taste. There are plenty of terrble, bad, very much no good brands out there, in whatever category.

The Hundreds got props because they have an interesting and inventive outlook on Streetwear. On the other hand, other Streetwear brands are pretty stale and/or derivative. Same goes with brands in the "Americana style" that is quite popular here. Same goes with designer brands.

seems like he's bitching more about forum etiquette than style criticisms but lets be honest. It's 2008 - and forums aren't a new thing.

If this was a car, politics, gun, or database administrator's forum the same universal rules still apply

1 - use some common sense and try searching for an answer first

2 - use some common sense and place a thread in the appropriate area

I mean, is that really so hard to understand? Following these basic concepts is universal etiquette and if you don't you shouldn't expect people to kiss your ass and hold your hand because you are new and/or lazy.

Totally agree. When I started lurking at the end of 2007, threads were much more complicated. Now all I see is "suggest XXXX for me."

Don't we all have access to the internet? Can't we all browse online for clothing that looks appealing?

However, failing to do one of these things does not justify hyperbolic insults.
