Have you handled them yourself? A lot of decent-looking flatware has a funny balance, or a fork that is too short for your hand, etc. Some of the straight-handled models can shoot out of your grasp if they are even a little unclean.

My own tastes are a little more boring. Georgian for the good stuff, and this

for everyday.

Yours do look nice, however, and I don't doubt that they will complement your other tastes.

weight may be a factor - I cant comment on the difference from SS to silver but would say that your best bet is to buy one place setting and give it a go - then you'll know if they work for you and your future bride - also don't forget about older guests some day down the line as they will have varying degrees of dexterity and flexibility - basically its about what you enjoy to see, and use if the aesthetic is there for you - you need to test drive the car my friend!

I believe it's still in production though I don't know by which company.

A bit modern for my taste but it looks elegant.

Alessi currently makes them: http://www.unicahome.com/p547/alessi...-hoffmann.html We have the sterling Caccia series, also from Allessi. It is a bit more organic looking, but also a modern classic. It is available in sterling, stainless and silver plate.

Ha! That's the other set we were considering! In fact, we had it on our registry for about a day and a half before switching. My fiancee prefers the Caccia, but I pushed for the Pott 33.

While I really like the looks of these, I'd find it hard to twirl long pasta with the fork due to its barrel-like design. Although, I guess you could always purchase a set of these:

and bring them out when you serve long pasta.

We have the Yamazaki Oslo for everyday - we've yet to decide on a silver set. I like the Caccia.

To the OP, although it's a bit hard to tell just by looking at them, I think I'd be bothered by the fork prongs not being long enough and the spoons being too round, not for aesthetic reasons but for the actual usage of the product.

The Alessi ones look not to have this problem (and for that matter, are more visually appealing.)

Mafoofan,

Those remind me a bit of the Mono "Oval" series (although perhaps the design of your choice is a bit more elegant):

We use the "Filio" series from the same company (this was on our wedding registry):

Unfortunately Mono has since reissued an early '70s design that I prefer to ours:

At any rate, I do recommend Mono's products -- they are certainly on par with Alessi and the like.
