Thanks for all the advice.

After some debating, I have come to the same "hold off for now" conclusion (more because I don't need that type of shoe right now and I really only want it in dark oak). However, I have two questions: 1) what is the model name when the shoe is EG instead of RLPL? and 2) is it included in the semi-annual sales?

I think it's called the "Oundle", which sounds like it was pulled from an early 20th century English translation of the Kama Sutra.

Hmm. I've seen the Oundle but always thought it didn't have the medallion. If the medallion has to be special ordered from EG (MTM?) than it won't be included in the sale and will be significantly more expensive

You are correct, Bob. I don't believe EG makes a shoes under its own label that is exactly like the Grant. The Oundle is closest.

You guys missed the part about drowning your guilt in a glass of expensive Scotch.

If this was in any shade of brown, I would be all over it. In black, I am on the fence... I will decide tomorrow

The only other black shoe i really like is the JL Chapel. But at less than a 3rd of the price, the Grant will certainly fill the black shoe void in my rotation.

If I'm an 8.5E on the C&J 348 last, what size should I go with on the RLPL Grant II (guessing UK9E, but not sure)? I came across a UK9.5/US10 that I want to pull the trigger on based on the measurements provided, but I'm thinking the UK9.5E will be a half size too large. Got any advice??

Not at all. One of the reasons I always have a couple of bottles of single malt on hand at all times.
