I'll be in St. Maarten (not sure which part) from May 25 to June 1. Where should I eat, drink, swim, people watch, dance, etc? Lay it on me.

Visiting the beach off of the 09 runway shouldn't be missed if you have the time.

The aircraft fly so low over the beach you can see the passengers in the windows.

It looks as though you could reach up and grab the landing gear.

Have fun.

Saint-Martin (French side) for nude beaches.

Beware of renting a car; they are often broken into.

Watch out for Dread Eye.

St Maarten Airport is amazing, I'd recommend a visit by the beach. But I guess I'm slightly biased (but I've been there and really got bored with the rest of the island after about a day).

I've seen videos of landings at the airport. Incredible! Against my habit, I decided to book a window seat for my inbound flight for the view.

On the Dutch side, eat at the Turtle Pier, owned by Al Wathey (his father was the head of the islands government for 30 years). Great Bar, view, and French onion soup.

An amazing view and experience!

ALso, take the day trip to St. Barth's by ship. You won't regret it.

Definitely take a day trip somewhere. We took a boat ride to Anguilla. I believe it took under an hour to get there.

St. Maarten in general, or The Turtle Pier?

A number of very good restaurants in Grande Casse... we liked the shops in Marigot more than Phillipsburg... the cruise ships come in to Phillipsburg and the shops cater more to the "short pants, dark socks" tourist from Nebraska crowd. (No offense to Nebraska).

Casinos on the Dutch side and more of a nightlife there.

There is an American ex-pat who runs a bar/restaurant at Oyster Pond right on the dock... ok food.. strong drinks.

Naked beach at Club Orient...

On the Dutch side.. there is a little house/restaurant. It has a huge tree in the front yard.. they grill lobster there! Get some. you won't regret it!

A number of good places for snorkeling.. Red Beach, etc.

There's a small islandette about a 15 minute ferry ride offshore. Go there. Cake on the mud then roll in the sand.. after awhile, go into the ocean, wash everything off. .your skin will feel incredible. I've had body scrubs in some great spas... but, this experience makes your skin feel baby smooth.

It's more a relaxing venue. Enjoy.

That's the Turtle Pier.

And yeah, the shopping center they have on the French side is super nice.

How old are you?

If you're stuck on the Dutch side go to Mullet bay for the beach. Just beach bars, lots of locals that hooked us up for nightlife spots and friendly topless European girls that liked americans. Not too crowded and it's a great beach. You can also drive up the road a few hundred feet and get a drink at the cliff bar for the sunset. Very cool.

Turtle Peir is awesome.

I've always had great luck at the cafe's in Marigot right on the water.

I'm 23 and will be travelling with similar aged group of people. I'm definately trying to mix the experience up with plenty of nightlife, eating out, nursing hang overs at the beach. But I also want to try more laid back things like snorkeling and such.
