Are these Wranglers?? - Page 3

This may be of interest to those looking at Wranglers (specifically 13MWZ). These jeans fade to a particular color of blue that you will either love or hate. And same goes for the Blue Bell repros (160$): http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=65075

In the vein of "wouldn't want to unknowingly have it happen to me" what do you mean by "look too cowboy?" In other words, what is it that makes 'western' jeans 'western'? Or how can some western jeans like more or less 'cowboy' than others? Thanks.

I love love love the way Wranglers fit (*especially* when I'm on a horse; I wouldn't dream of riding in anything else), and I'm quite enamoured with their broken twill. That said, for non-equestrian activities, the signature "blueberry" hue Wranglers take after they've been worn and washed is a total deal-breaker for me. If Wrangler produced jeans using dyes akin to those used by Flathead or Skull or Iron Heart, I would be a very, very happy man.

I'm in total agreement with you on the color of the 13MWZ post-wash. Would it be possible to somehow re-dye these jeans? I know nothing about the process, but I know some people here have some experience with that, and perhaps they can comment. Other modern Wrangler styles have a more sane blue coloration post-wash. They must stick to the same "blueberry" hue for historical reasons (the 13MWZ is a popular style, and a big seller for them, so they must not want to rock the boat). I recently found some vintage Maverick jeans from the 60s (made by Blue Bell, style 44MWZ). I'm in the process now of wearing and washing them, and I will report back on whether or not they suffer the same unfortunate coloring problem.

Does anybody have sizing recommendations for a 32 denim waist size (not true waist, but denim size)?

I assume that these would be true to size, possibly 1 up, but just checking.

edit: that is, the 936, not the 13mwz.

If anyone is interested in the fit and overall appearance of the 13MWZ, I did notice today that Sheplers http://www.sheplers.com/mens/wrangler_13mwz/010357.html has pre-washed versions that are not the bright blue that many people have mentioned in disdain. Though it doesn't help those of you who want the rigid/raw original version.

There is also the Premium Patch collection from Wrangler that has a leather instead of plastic patch and they sit lower on one's waist--so sayeth the folks at Wrangler.

I have a few of these pre-washed 13MWZs: the 'antique blue' and the 'rough stone'. They are indeed the same cut, but they are extremely soft, probably dozens of washes on them. The colors are blah. About the same as you would see in similarly pre-treated jeans in the mall.

a little bump on this thread, as i'm also interested in the sizing of the 936's...anyone?

oh...and i'd also be interested to know where to find those slingers/stranglers...haven't been able to find those very easily

if you have an afternoon and live in any even slightly rural area... go to 3 thrift stores and your bound to find atleast 6 pairs of deadstock or nearly new made in USa (with bA arcuate or diamond whatever it is 'w') wranglers.

also, its funny they have a fit called 'strangler' because thats what I call the ball killers most FFA and rodeo kids wear.

I would.*

*If they had a longer inseam (32.3" post-shrink isn't gonna cut it for me) and if I hadn't sworn off additional raw denim purchases until after the SExDBxSxS contest is over in April.

Agree. Damn, wish the inseam was longer.

I know I'm a few years late here, but I have the 935 slim fit rigid bootcut. Had to size up 1" in the waist. Also, the rise on these is huuuge. I got a pair and just can't bring myself to wear them in public

Got them from Sheplers, you can't beat 25 bucks:

I've seen these at other online retailers, and I think that rise is a misprint at 9".
