Cigars - Page 552

post #8266 of 9980
Found out last night that I have today off of work, so I've been spending the morning finishing up some walnut carvings for family (sort of a tradition over the last few Christmases). Had to wait on some shellac to dry so I headed out back for a Fuente Hemingway Short Story. These things always give me fits when I first light them (can't keep em lit), but I love the flavor.

Have a few pies to bake later, so I may turn to something a little more substantial while I wait on the oven.

If you don't want to hear about non-baller ish, don't click the spoiler. Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Had a Rocky Patel old world reserve maduro. it was probably one of the best cigars of the past few months.

No time for smokes this weekend, hopefully a three cigar day monday by the coast though.

Nice last two days.  Received my much anticipated package via Swiss mail, box of Cohiba robusto and 3 pack of Esplendidos. I'll probably age them for awhile, although the robusto I smoked last night had zero draw issues, smoked great and even burn, little bloom on the caps, great so far.

My desktop humidor (40ct from Diamond Crown) is now full, so I bid on a 150ct cheapo from Cigarbid.  I will do something more substancial with better long term storage when I buy a house. (I'd rather not have a cooler in my condo.}

Also received an Opus X Lost City lancero this evening, along with 2 5 packs of Padron 1964 maduros (diplimaticos and principe)

A friend of mine has a hotel in Cuba as a client and got these on his last trip down there... Are they legit and/or are they any good? I know nothing about cigars.

bottom two look fake - I haven't seen that R&J band and don't think that they cello wrap. The Cohiba band looks off - the box row above the name is cut off, and the wrapper doesn't looks bad. Don't know about the tubo.

The bottom one is a RyJ Juileta, it's a new cigar marketed towards women. It could be real.

I didn't think Habanos cello-wrapped any cigars... unless the retailer did? The other issue is, assuming dude bought all three cigars at the same place, and we can agree that the band on the Cohiba looks a little off (not saying it's fake or not), wouldn't that draw the validity of the other two into question?

re: cello wrap - might be machine made

ama - have you seen that Ryj band before?

Here's a close-up of the RyJ in the tube and another of the Cohiba. I notice all the Cohibas in my batch do have the third row of boxes cut off above the word.

Currently machine made cigars are wrapped in cello but many moons ago habanos sa used to wrap a lot of their cigars (which that clearly is not).
